Turns out I would have lost my bet with Kirby if he was still here. Switch sold 19.67 million up to the end of June.

Edit: Hardware down 4.5%

Software up 120.6%

Odyssey
11.17m (+ 760k)
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
10.35m (+ 1.13m, nothing else is even close)
Zelda BOTW
9.32m (+ 840k)
Splatoon 2
6.76m (+740k wow close to Odyssey)
1-2 Switch
2.45m (+ 160k)
ARMS
2.01m (+ 160k)
Kirby
1.89m (+630k)
Xenoblade 2
1.42m (+110k)
Labo (Both sets)

1.39m

There are gonna be some series record breakers by the end of this gen

Here's a weirdo one. Has anyone put in more than 300 hrs into any game? Long story short, I've been 'stuck' on 295hrs on Isaac since probably the end of last year. I thought it might have been bugged but then I decided to see whether it was possibly my imagination. I've put in at least five or six hours in the last couple of weeks and it's still on 295.

Does it matter? No. Does it slightly bug me? Why, yes, it does.

Yep, Splatoon 2. I’d feel ashamed but I’ve checked others I’ve played with/against and they’ve put in well over 1000.

OK, cheers. I mean, it's possible I just haven't played 5 more hours since it went to 295, I just don't see how. In any case, thanks for confirming. I'll try to get over it!

Crap looking for a painfully average game (bought on a whim and find it a bit crap to be honest, the fact that sony thought in the 90's it was good enough to compete with mario is a joke.)

Worse is how N-Sane has sold so well and the majority / vocal elements of the internet as a whole still moan that Nintendo make second rate consoles and games that are too expensive.

The worst part of being right is when others don't listen ;)

If software sales have jumped so much surely that's encouraging for developers? In turn more developers on board means more games, more games means more buyers of the console? Circle of life and all that hopefully?

How so? if that had been a list of games published by somebody who wasn't Nintendo, you'd have a point. Nintendo games doing well is only really good for Nintendo, third-party games doing that well would be a much better sign to other third-parties that there was huge demand for their product and they'd all be falling over themselves to invest big money to capitalise on that frothing demand for the style of games they make.

The stories from some indie developers about their relative success on the Switch is what is more likely to drive other indie developers to rush to that goldmine, rather than Nintendo announcing they were dominating the software market on the Switch.

It's a financial report from Nintendo though. Why would they include other companies games?

Yup, this. Shows a value that is over 300 for me. Which as I've been playing it for a year now, isn't surprising...

I’ve been buying loads of switch accessories recently for some reason. Steering wheels, joycon charging docs, licensed super mario thumb caps etc.

On a whim I bought a neon red and neon blue wrist strap. They are not the same shade as the joycons! Do not buy if you are tempted for some reason (unless you like non matching things like that). Probably a bit late but there you are.

This isn’t me but these are what they look like:

Because it shows that Switch owners are buying software. They are spending money. There is a pie there that might be worth trying to grab a slice of.

I expect Nintendo would like to crow about how many copies of Wolfenstein or FIFA they sold but I expect they can’t - a publisher would want to publish their own figures.

You do know that out of the top 16 games sold this week in Japan all (but one) is a Nintendo title.

Its not just this week, its been like this for weeks now.

The switch is an unmitigated success

Weekly Sales for Switch was 53000. Ps4 was next with only 14000. Nintendomination.

Not exactly sure why it's in this thread, but FWIW, I'd definitely be delighted with Prime 4 running at a similar visual standard to the Switch version of Doom. Obviously with a slightly different stylistic aesthetic, but I reckon looking at Doom probably gives us a decent idea of what Prime 4 might be capable of.

Prime 3 got it all wrong. Get these talking, named characters the fuck out of my solitary adventure. What is this, Half Life 2?

Also, the GCs lock-on controls were better than the Wii’s free-look.

Prime 4 is a wait-and-see purchase, as a result. Prepared to lose the argument over free-look, but the solitude is a red line.
