One thing I noticed on holiday was that there was a fair amount of Kids playing on a switch.

2 years ago it was ONLY smart phones

Nintendo are back baby!

I remember listening a Spanish videogame podcast a while ago. One of the members was a teacher. He said the kids were totay hyped with the switch pre-launch video.

I've got a switch which is used as often by my kids as it is by me. I've had a Nintendo account since I got the thing whereas they've just had kids profiles. They keep asking if they can use their accounts for online stuff (using their save data and all that) so I figured I could just put their profiles onto my account. Seems that's not the case.

So, if I make them individual Nintendo accounts what happens when Nintendo starts charging for online in a couple of months? Would I have to pay three times? Seems kinda against their philosophy of having everything tied to an individual piece of hardware.

My right controller has started doing the drift right thing docked and undocked, and as updates / calibration haven’t sorted it I guess it’s fucked.

Is it something that can be sent back to Nintendo without sending the whole machine? And if the whole machine has to go to them, what’s the current state of play with saves and the like? I think I’d just shell out for new joycons rather than lose my Zelda / Gungeon saves.

There's a family plan, which isn't ideal but cheaper than separate subs

There is a family plan which basically covers you for up to a maximum of 8 accounts online - so you buy the plan, and then nominate which accounts have access to it (you could even share the cost with friends etc if needed as the accounts do not all need to be on the same hardware).

The family plan is £31:49 for 12 months: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Nintendo-Switch/Nintendo-Switch-Online/Pricing-1374627.html

You can just send back the right joycon to Nintendo and keep the rest of the machine.

Won't all purchases go to the main account holder?

No, they'll go to whichever account makes the purchase surely? This is not sharing of funds or anything like that, the accounts themselves are all still separate in that regard.

Ah that’s good, I’ll do that then, cheers.

Alternatively, if you are up for it you can buy a new joystick from ebay for about a fiver and fix it yourself. It's a little bit fiddly, but not too bad. Nintendo will likely charge you £30 or so, going on the experiences in this forum.

Well, I have a family set up (me, my wife, and two sons) and if any of them try to buy anything it comes to me for approval and gets charged to my account.

In that case, sounds like that might be happening lol.

Are those other accounts setup as child/supervised accounts in the family group - that might explain it maybe?

They’re going to charge me? I assumed it would be free, I’ve only had the Switch since November!

If a repair is £30 then I may as well buy a new set, they work out that price each anyway.

If you only bought it in November, and can prove that with the receipt or something, it'll be free. Book it in online:

Oh my Pool Panic is great

Holy crap! I met the guys who were making this at EGX Rezzed last year. They showed me an earlier version and even then, no word of a lie...

IT IS ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE LOOKING GAMES I HAVE EVER SEEN!

It is basically a virtual cartoon. And the Dev on it looks like Hans Gruber! There are no excuses.

BUY THIS NOW! IT IS LIKE PLAYING AN ACTUAL CARTOON.
