Ah, thanks, but that seems to be Wii U/SNES Mini controller, even though it would be good for that purpose. Was after the 8bitdo controller (Super Famicom/PAL Super NES style) but can’t find anywhere that stocks them.

Buy one directly from China via AliExpress...

Thanks. Might very well consider the RG sub, even though it’s not supplying the exact controller I’m after. :) Tried Amazon, too many Chinese sellers selling (presumably) fakes, don’t really trust Amazon.

Is there actually any evidence of fake 8bitdo pads?  Pretty niche product to be making fakes of...

I have one of these which is the old style SN30 (bluetooth, works with Switch)

I'm certain these work too - the ones that are styled like the Analogue Super NT and come with an original SNES adapter:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/8Bitdo-SN30-SF30-Retro-Set-Wireless-Connect-Bluetooth-Gamepad-for-Nintendo-SNES-SF-C-Android-Windows/32880947085.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.31.48a62225QEcDCT&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_1_10152_10151_10065_10344_10130_10068_10324_10342_10547_10325_10343_10340_10548_10341_10696_10192_10190_10084_10083_10618_10307_10820_10301_10821_10303_10846_10059_100031_10103_524_10624_10623_10622_10621_10620,searchweb201603_1,ppcSwitch_4&algo_expid=da075d4f-e3a7-4fd0-9bdf-ad5264d37c3b-4&algo_pvid=da075d4f-e3a7-4fd0-9bdf-ad5264d37c3b&priceBeautifyAB=0

DO NOT buy one of these - the one styled like the Analogue and come with the SNES Mini / Wii adapter.  They are not bluetooth and won't work with Switch.  Watch out for listings that say bleutooth and aren't.  I ended up with a month of messaging Aliexpress sellers photos and videos before eventually getting 50% refund for mine!

I'm pretty certain that none of the 8bitdo controllers being sold within China on Taobao are fake, so I'd imagine the ones on Aliexpress are legit..

OK, I’m just wary and all. Very reluctant to buy anything off eBay or Amazon marketplace, particularly from sellers China.

This would be absolutely perfect for Pinball FX3.  Shame I already bought every single table on Android though, otherwise I would've gotten one :(

For me it's pretty much essential for Ikaruga alone, never mind the mass influx of shmups releasing on the Switch in general. ^_^

I think the difference here is that 8bitdo are a Chinese company who were selling via AliExpress (and eBay) sellers directly from China way before there was any other distribution chain.

Xiaomi are pretty similar but on a MUCH larger scale - the 3rd biggest mobile phone manufacturer on the planet, with some great handsets, but the 'official' way to buy them is via Ali or GearBest or some other Chinese-based retailer - no distribution route in the UK (Well, i think you can buy them at proper inflated prices via Debenhams or something now)

Are other people still experiencing connection issues between the Switch and the joy-cons (both left and right)? Mine basically doesn't work unless I have a completely clear line of sight between the console and the controllers, which is just bonkers. I sent mine back to Nintendo to repair but they said there's nothing wrong with it, and I should get rid of my microwave and aquarium (or something).

Sounds bit fishy to me (so so sorry).

Ah, fair enough. :) Thanks.

Anyway, it wasn't the exact controller of theirs that I was after, but I subscribed to Retro Gamer for six months to get 8bitdo's NES/SNES mashup controller, which should work out OK.* :)

* 'tho knowing Future Publishing, the next ice age should appear before the sub bonus arrives.

Have a look around the house. Is there anything that's broadcasting/connecting that might cause issues? Turn a few things off and see if it still happens.

Pretty much the only wireless device I have constantly turned on in the house is the router, so I'm struggling to work out what could be causing the issue. And why would it only affect the Switch (and not, for example, the PS4)?

No active Bluetooth on your phone, a soundbar, TV? I used to have issues until I realised it would only happen while docked next to my TV. I then remembered I had a Samsung soundbar connected to the TV via BT. Switched it off and the problem went away.

The range on mine is poor and like you say does depend somewhat on line of sight. Admittedly I'm using the Switch in my lounge which has loads of wireless devices all doing their thing, and I'm not changing that.

I've found that using the little slide-on attachments with the wrist straps help considerably - whether there's something in them that amplify the signal or whether it's simply because they reduce the amount of surface area covered by your hands, I don't know.

Failing that, the Pro Controller has none of these issues.

No, which makes it pretty confusing. I mean my phone has bluetooth, but it's not connected to anything most of the time.

I posted this a while back but have you tried attaching them to the docked Switch then powering completely off and then back on again? It does seem to improve things temporarily for me.

This maybe worked a bit? Like you say I think it improved it, but doesn't seem to have totally solved it. Thanks for the tip though.

Thanks, I'll give the wrist strap things a go. The thing is the issue is kind of manageable, if annoying, when it's just me playing Zelda, but I can't imagine it being anything less than infuriating with a few people trying to play Mario Kart or something. I'm sure I read something about an adaptor for Gamecube controllers on the Switch, so maybe I'll just have to go down that route, but having to revert to 15-year-old controllers to solve the issue seems pretty mad.

Did you get to the bottom of this? I've had my eye on Lone Wolf for a while.

They emailed me back today and were super helpful. Turns out you have to press and hold A until the equipment slots are highlighted and then you can move stuff about. I'm getting stuck back into the game tonight.

So few reviews for this around, it would be good to get a forumite verdict when you’ve played more.

Loved the books back in the day. Played them religiously on the family holidays - so much better than the FF books.

Turn it off and see what happens.

For a beautiful 90 seconds or so there I thought that had worked, but it must have been a fluke as it's still dodgy. In general using the joy-con grip thing seems to help, but not quite enough for it not to be annoying still.
