In other news, that ‘internet download required’ banner they put on the physical copy cases is really ugly, isn’t it? They should just put a sticker on the case you can peel off so they keep the aesthetic.

What 802.11 standard does your router support, and how close to it is your Switch?

Don’t know the standard, brand new BT ultrafast hub. As for distance, sat right next to it.

Is the Switch reporting 50MBps or 50 Mbps? Your broadband speed is going to be in bits, actual download speeds are usually measured in bytes, so 50MBps off a 300Mbps connection is actually really, really good (I'd have expected it to peak at 37.5MBps).

Think the Switch reports bits not bytes, as most devices do in terms of connection tests. Will check though.

Pokemon  new game on Switch. what the difference between

Pokemon: Let's Go! Eevee! (Nintendo Switch)
Pokemon: Let's Go! Pikachu! (Nintendo Switch)

is this just the character on box art ?

The same as any other Pokemon game with 2 versions since the originals: Each version has Pokemon that the other does not. This is done to encourage trading with friends.

Or in the old days: to buy both versions, because everyone else you know stopped playing after 2000 :(

You start with the one on the box.

Wolfenstein 2 is pretty good, if a little muddy in places in handheld.

Motion aiming works quite well but it’s not for me. Maybe it’ll work better sat in front of a sofa in docked mode as, currently I either play in handheld or stick the screen in a clamp mount thing.

Anyone given Battlechasers: Night War a go?

It's got good reviews but is on the pricey side for an indie game.

I’ve put a lot of hours into the PS4 version and it’s really good, but I wish I’d bought it on Switch as it’s way more suited to pick up and play small bursts than hours in front of the telly.

This.... doesn't look very good. Such a weird game to port as well (random sequel entry for Switch owners, months after its initial launch, very demanding, etc) especially when it comes to come at the expense of video clarity. The visual design can already be a mess most of the time but smearing a pot of vaseline across the screen won't do it much good either.

I would've much preferred a port of the first game or Fallout 3 + New Vegas perhaps. I bet Wolf TNO would've looked and played great on Switch in any case what with its demonstrably better and linear level design.

I see Bomberman is reduced at the moment. What is the general consensus? Worth picking up or is it a bit shit?

It's a good bomberman, and the story mode is decent in co op. My partner really enjoys it, it's so simple. I doubt proper gamers would get much out of it solo though.

Ta for that, might leave it for now then and get it when it eventually drops to £10 physical.

Technically speaking it's pretty amazing that they got such a taxing game running on switch with full geometry, particle effects etc intact. I knew the new orleans area would be a bad one as it even pushes my PC producing framerates lower than any other area. It does seem like they prioritsed framerate and effects over resolution, personally I think they could have sacrificed some effects for image quality but maybe that doesn't free up the system too much.  Wonder if they will do a patch like they did with doom. That did improve things Image wise.

Yeah, it’s a bit murky though the gamma/brightness set up is a bit odd, it’s the same setting for tv and handheld so if you configure it in handheld, like it suggests, it turns everything far too dark.

I reckon a patch will come and I’d prefer a bit more resolution over more effects. It’s quite battery hungry, too.

Quite playable though and not a mess like Rime was on release (the Switch v2 patch was a night and day difference)

I did. And I enjoyed all 40hrs I spent with the game.

Would have liked a bit more content tbh.

I thought it was poor. Slight bit of 3D perspective detracts, rather than adds to the play, the 1P mode seemed crap and the multiplayer still felt barebones after a million patches. No real excuse for being worse than a 16-bit game. Sold it.

All they had to do was to port Saturn Bomberman & add online multiplayer. It would’ve been immense.

See I think it looks pretty amazing.

Watching that DF footage @1080p on my phone  drives home how great a job they've done.

Sure it looks a bit weird and blurred on a giant TV. But in handheld size, it's super convincing.

Amazing job considering the relative power of the Switch.
