If anyone is after some rather well priced eshop credit then Zeek are currently doing  £50s worth for £41.50 using the discount code BIGWIN.

Combine it with Topcashback who today are doing a £3 deal on spends over £5 and you'll get it for about £38 which I'd say is pretty darn good. Zeek deal is limited to the first 500 who go for it so might be an idea to act quickly hence me posting it here :).

I've put a few hours into Ys VIII this week. It's really good. Reminds me of Skies of Arcadia a little (Characters mainly, not combat or art style). It's a very 'sunny' JRPG and I can see myself seeing it through to the end. Recommended.

I was worried about the performance since a lot of reviews say it’s awful- is that not the case then?

The price is fine imo, £2 more than it is on Xbox and PSN for a port they’ve been cracking away at for over a year.

It's made in Unity and can run on an iPhone 6s. I can't imagine it was the hardest port anyone's had to handle and very unlikely their sole focus for the last 12 months.

It seems a bit disproportionate to me but, again, I am getting Wolfenstein 2 (though I expect that was a bit more work, somehow)

It is made in Unity, but it's extremely customised, almost to the point where it's essentially a custom engine (the benefits of having Unity on your doorstep!).  Limbo was actually the bigger ball ache to port here due to the custom engine. There's a reason the two Playdead games are so well regarded and polished and it's because they're all about the details and the tiny touches, nothing will leave that studio if Arnt isn't happy with it.

Source - I know the guys. :p

Shit is far too strong, but disappointing, seriously flawed and extremely overrated by initial reviews for sure. The gameplay is bland and level design is dreadful, which is a problem in an FPS. One of the most disappointing games I have played in the last year or two.

For a tenner though, stick it on easy and enjoy the great spectacle and story, it's worth it. Not 50 quid!

This is what I took away from my play through of it too.

I'm the worst person to ask about framerate and stuff. I don't notice any of it. I've noticed a weird 'shimmer' on shadows in grassy areas, but that's all I can tell you. I've played it exclusively in handheld mode as well, so I can't speak for docked performance.

We seem to go over this every other page! It's a piece of piss. Can be done on a single account. Login to your account in a browser. Change region using drop down box. Go to switch. Login to eshop. Bargainz.

That does sound easy, thanks!

See, to me everyone who plays it claims the level design is shit, the gameplay is bland and the difficulty is fucked. Also you can't really tell where you're being attacked from.

Sounds shit to me. Just watch the story on YouTube.

I had a look at the cutscenes on YouTube a while ago, didn't seem that compelling considering the praise that element of the game gets, maybe it only really works in the context of actually playing the game, rather than as a standalone experience. Call of Duty is a bit like that, the story is fine in the context of the game, not really worth watching a cutscene/story only video of it. I'd say the same applies for a lot of so called cinematic games, they don't stand up outside of the game.

Shit level design is still shit level design for 10 quid. I could buy Hollow Knight, by all accounts a lengthy game with excellent level design, for that!

The gameplay is just the same as the other Wolf games. It's the level design that lets it down.

Yeah, it doesn't help that DOOM came out since then, which makes a more straightforward FPS like Wolfie feel a bit uninspired in comparison. But not everything can be as thrilling as DOOM.

The series is still more relevant to Nintendo fans, honestly. And Yooka (where the majority of the old devs are) is on all platforms.

That video spoils way too much, glad we didn't have it. Though I probably would have watched it 20 times in-between rentals from Blockbuster regardless.

Banjo, Wetrix, Zelda OOT. What a year!

So, I've just been the beneficiary of FTTP broadband (having laboured with 2Mbps for a decade). My new connection is stupidly fast (300Mbps - soz). But my Switch only seems to see a fraction of this, with downloads of 50Mbps over the WiFi. I know, world's smallest violin. But I'm just interested as to why this is.

So, for those lucky fuckers like me who are on very fast broadband, what wifi download speed do you get from the Switch? And is there anything I can do to boost the speed upper limit a wee bit closer to what my ISP is giving me, or is the Nintendo network just throttled and/or does the Switch have a crippled Wifi chip? I also get exactly the same wifi download speed on the PS4 as it happens.

Is the Switch reporting 50MBps or 50 Mbps? Your broadband speed is going to be in bits, actual download speeds are usually measured in bytes, so 50MBps off a 300Mbps connection is actually really, really good (I'd have expected it to peak at 37.5MBps).
