They're kind of alright? 6/10 stuff throughout really if there's no Nostalgia there, nostalgia takes the first up to a 7 and the other 2 8s probably.

Tropical Freeze is the best 2D platformer since Mario World (although I've not played NSMBU and hear that's excellent.)

If it helps, NSMBU is the best 2D platformer since Mario World, and if I was able to take off rose tinted glasses, I think would actually be better than Mario World

I haven't played Tropical Freeze though.  I figured it'd be quite like DKC Returns, which I played on 3DS and thought was good, but not amazing...

The quality of Tropical Freeze will still be celebrated in 100 years time.

...though this sort of comment puts it back on my list... hmm.

Other Switch recommendations.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2.  Amazing story, amazing characters, amazing English voice acting, solid 100 hours+ if you spend enough time figuring out the slightly bloated battle scheme (which does become enjoyable and challenging once you know what's going on), full of charm.

Mario Rabbids.  Great challenging strategy title, again full of charm and good characters.  A real surprise as to how nicely it plays and is a game I keep going back to.

Vostok Inc.  Crack in a game.  Clever / well thought out, and a nice humour to the writing.  Sort of easy to pick up, impossible to put down thing.

I have gone on a bit of a spending spree and here's what I got for it so far:

Skull & Co. Gripcase - makes playing the Switch in handheld mode extremely comfortable.

Anywhere stocking it in the UK yet?

I got this for my birthday yesterday, only to realise that the day before a "gold edition" came out including the Donkey Kong DLC...

It does seem very good from my brief time with it so far.

Not so much for yourself as you have it now, but for others thinking about it...

Gold edition has appeared a few places for <£40

Original version is now starting to appear for £20 in some places (sainsbury?  Might be a goose chase)

The gold as a download was ~£33 on US eshop, that was a decent bargain.

I'm yet to get the season pass, but intend to, and don't feel ripped off having paid launch price for the original game.

The 'Gold Edition' has been available for ages hasn't it? It's even been on sale in the eShop a few times I think.

I think the season pass adding everything is only about £15-16 - and if you just want the DK stuff it's available solus for even less.

Oh has it? Serves me right for not paying attention. I've had the original on my wish list for ages, it never occurred to me to check whether a newer version had come out.

I don't mind really, after all I didn't buy it anyway :)

Missed it at £20 by a few minutes going by hotukdeals where they've been busy cramming them into their baskets.

Nintendo sent my joycon back (the SR button wasn’t working), after fixing what they called an ‘operating system problem’.

Anyway, it didn’t connect wirelessly to my Switch so I reckon they just sent a brand new one.

Didn't realise Money Puzzle Exchanger had been released. Secret best Neo Geo puzzle game.

I'm ashamed to say I don't know this game... it looks like it has Magical Drop mechanics from the few screens I have seen.... Is that what it is?

Yeah - very similar. The idea is to merge smaller coin denominations into larger ones; five 1s into a 5, two 5s into a 10, etc.

When you get to 500, matching two or more together will make them disappear.

It's all about the combos - stacking the coins so that completing your set of 1s will trigger a chain reaction with the surrounding coins that creates further sets.

I'm currently 4th in the world at caravan mode with about 170k. To give an idea of how bad that is, the current leader has 4mil plus :)

Everybody should play Inside, such a great experience.

I'm so glad I held out on buying it on the PS4. Amazing game so far (I got as far as the submarine part last night) and a wonderful evolution of Limbo.

Well, yes I imagine it is but I doubt the majority of Switch owners go through all that.

We seem to go over this every other page! It's a piece of piss. Can be done on a single account. Login to your account in a browser. Change region using drop down box. Go to switch. Login to eshop. Bargainz.

It might be easy but I’m sure most people don’t do it.
