Portable Fortnite already exists on the iPhone/iPad (and soon Android), so it's not a unique selling-point to buy a Switch.

I tried Fortnite on my phone and I really couldn't get my head around the touch controls. On the Switch, I just play it like a console on the go, which is wonderful.

Fair enough.

In other news, Paladins is a fantastic port. i’m sure Digital Foundry will agree.

Not without the occasional glitch, though, such as when Vivian forgot to put her eyes in and trousers on for the character select screen.

Just gave it a go in docked mode after portable only for the last day. Rather impressive again.

Pokemon Go has made more money than Jesus, I would reasonably assume these two new titles which link to that will shift both consoles and software. And those portable pokeballs.

I love Pokemon and have bought probably...*counts*...10 of the last console titles?  But Pokemon Go Pikachu/Eevee...I am not interested at all.  I don't weant to waggle fucking joycon to catch something. Or throw a plastic ball.  I don't want to leave my house if I have to, thanks.  Videogames are a release for me, a time to relax.  Not flail about or walk to the poxy library half a mile away to catch a Snorlax.  I didn't like Pokemon GO and I won't like this.

I just want an RPG experience on my Switch.  With lovely new graphics on a big wide screen, and the ability to trade with other people around the world.  Roll on 'late 2019'.  :(  Thank you and good night.

But but but from what has been said so far (which admittedly isn’t a lot) this is basically a Pokemon RPG without wild pokemon battles and a slightly different dynamic for catching, which is hardly game breaking (seems like you can use the touchscreen?)

I mean it could be awful but a little premature to rule out all interest yet. But then again I love Go so we may be different audiences

That's fair. This is our first proper foray into Nintendo ownership (I half-heartedly owned a GameCube) so it's all fresh for us. We're lapping it all up.

...and that's great!  I'm sure Go Switch will sell loads and a lot of people will love it.  But it's not a Pokemon game, in my eyes.  I suppose I think it's a shame that a lot of peoples first Pokemon experiences will be something watered down and not 'canon'.

I could waffle on a lot more, but I'm self aware enough that I don't want to sully this lovely thread with my negativity!  I'll just wait until the next one comes out...

I've seen it said in multiple places that catching is done 'purely with motion controls, docked or undocked'.  :(  I mean...ugh....that is just going to be bloody tiresome after the first 50 battles, no?  But more importantly, no battling wild Pokemon before trying to capture them?  Eh?!  That's a big part of the game.  Working out which type works best against your foe, learning it's moves...maybe swapping out for a different team member, wearing it down...all streamlined to just chucking a plastic ball that's going to dent your forearm.  Anyway, you made me waffle on and I said I wouldn't, so I'll end my post on a positive note.

Octopath Traveller demo tomorrow!  Don't buy anything in the eShop until 2pm either, as there are going to be games up for sale, yay.

From what I've read, the only mandatory motion controls are for aiming. Throwing works with a button press as well as flicking a joycon.

This came up in an interview before E3 when asking about playing on a train or something like that.

Wait have they said anything about actually having to leave the house then? That'd be a huge bummer if necessary. :/

Sorry, no, I was just waffling about me not liking Go Mobile.  I've not seen anything Go Switch related to having to leave the house.  All I've seen confirmed is that you can link Mobile to Switch and port over Pokemon...kind of forcing you to use Go Mobile if you want an easier or more complete experience?

you've massively misunderstood, it says you can move your Go pokemon to the Park mode in the game.

If you don't have Go, you don't miss anything.

It's a remake of Pokemon Yellow, literally the only difference is that random wild battles are gone. If that was the Pokemon experience for you, well uhh I guess you have next year's version.

Yeah, there are standard button controls. I caught a bit of the Treehouse and someone mentioned it.

Worth watching the Treehouse video of Let's Go. Aside from the wild Pokemon capture it very much does look like Red and Blue.

I’ve never used headphones while playing docked and was under the impression that you couldn’t. Oops. Google just told me I could have used my Playstation headset and its USB dongle all along.

Not that it’s been a problem until now but attempting to play Fortnite without headphones is what sent me Googling. I like playing it handheld and it’s not like my sniping aim is any worse than usual for it but the idea of ever playing it on a TV without the ability to soundwhore footsteps properly was too much.

So are there any USB wireless headphones that are less chunky and hot in the summer than the Playstation headset and maybe not more than £25? Google isn’t being as helpful with that.

It really doesn't sound like it's just like Red/Blue/Yellow.  'Startlingly basic'.  :(

Shame, but yeah, not for me.

Ta.

Not for me then.

Give it a go it's entirely free. I generally don't enjoy online shooters but Fortnite is different. I spend 99% of a match avoiding other players altogether.

I just got my first Battle Royale victory on Switch too so it's as valid a tactic as any other.

It's an excellent game. Go on give it a try :)

Shame, but yeah, not for me.

My main issue is it's going to cost me about £140. Because I'll need* both games and a pair of the ball thingies.

And also, possibly, a second Switch. Fuck.

* Can you imagine if I bought one of the games and didn't get my daughter the other one? Jesus. Have you see Akira because that's what would happen.

Nah, plenty of single-player games to play.
