Mark of the Ninja, TWEWY and Smash, you meff

Mark of the Ninja: Already own it on Steam, TWEWYwhat did you just call me? and as for Smash: I always have the intention of buying fighting games but end up watching others play them instead. I just don't have time to learn the genre any more.

Pokemon, smash and portable fortnight? How do these analysts have jobs when they can't look at the big picture. There's mad money about to be made. If I had some disposable, I'd be investing right now.

Absolutely... Come winter everything will start going crazy... Although not sure how long legs Fortnite will have? But in the end its free to play and to be able ot play on a decent dedicated mobile/home gaming platform will be a big draw... However as mentioned its on a phone/iOS too but the experience won't be the same... and they don't have Nintendos library. Be interesting to see how the Switch does this winter....

According to urban dictionary "meff" means a homeless alcoholic.

Nintendo is doomed again:

To be fair you would have thought Nintendo would have announced a lot more this year. For a start, we were told to expect more games due to 3DS support dieing down. This doesn't appear to have happened.

2017 was a great start but 2018 has been pretty mediocre. 2018 should have seen a Nintendo game ever 1-2 months IMO. As much as I enjoyed Tennis Aces it's not a triple A nintendo title. I want something with a meaty story or experience.

So many people i know who got a Switch are waiting for the next Zelda, that's the only reason they purchased it and are holding out hope another will come (or something along those lines).

Next year is going to be interesting, seems like 2019 is going to be a big year for nintendo  but it seems 2018 is going to be an odd year. They need to smash this year to continue doing well for hard ware sales and i don't think that will happen.

I'd also like to think we get a hardware revision of the switch by 2020 and that's creeping up as well.

They are the same investors who complained why Nintendo wasn't moving to mobile entirely a couple of years ago. The downfalls of being a public company.

Why do people buy Nintendo consoles expecting this though? We've been getting one 3D Zelda every five years since Twilight Princess now, these expectations are based on nothing.

And Nintendo just aren't in the business of pumping out loads of meaty single player adventure games. Zelda is essentially an anomaly in Nintendo's regular output, not the norm. If you buy a Nintendo console expecting a regular output of games like Zelda you've invested in the wrong console.

I'm not one to judge. Not everyone likes the bright worlds of Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2. I can kinda see Breath of the Wild being the most attractive game do older gamers though.

All the fire emblem/xenoblade stuff doesn't interest me at all and i stopped caring about Pokemon a long time ago. Doesn't mean the games are not good, just have no real interest in them.

They aren't idiots for their taste.  They are idiots because they bought a console to wait on a game that may or may not ever happen.

Ah sorry. I miss worded my post. I meant they bought it for Zelda and are holding onto the switch for (assumed) next Zelda.

Not really, they already have Pokemon and Smash coming. Two absolutely huge titles. They don't need to bring out more this year. They're going to do ridiculous numbers as it is, and they will next year too when they announce whatever they've got waiting in the wings.

Also, there's still six months of the year left for them to announce things.

They don't know. But it's a waste having only 5 games out of year when the Switch is selling so well. I have no interest in Pokemon but i will probably get Smash. I want another arcade/kart racer and besides sonic there isn't much to turn to. Also, both these games are at the later part of the year - sure they will sell well but it's a way off.

I was just hoping for more variety of games and it seems like a lot more people where too. It wouldn't be as bad if a a few third partys got onboard and released there own stuff (which is what i thought was finally happening).

I was expecting a load of 360/PS3 ports. Surely they’re easy money!

Maybe easy money depending on the game (especially compilations) but I remember Nintendo saying they were not allowing ports onto the switch (obviously this doesnt count themselves).

I can understand that to some extent but it would be nice, i was really (foolishly) hoping for a Silent Hill 1-3 collection since there were some rumored Konami compilations.

The Cuphead DLC was labelled as a ‘console launch exclusive’ in Microsoft’s conference and it’s not like them to undersell exclusivity so it must be coming.

They covered that on the e3 Xbox Daily thing, Just means prior to the Win10 and Steam version.

Fair enough.

In other news, Paladins is a fantastic port. i’m sure Digital Foundry will agree.

Not without the occasional glitch, though, such as when Vivian forgot to put her eyes in and trousers on for the character select screen.

But there's Shining Resonance, which is a PS3 port.

If the rest of the Non-Switch Owning Pokemon Go community are like those in my local Go community then Nintendo will have no problems hitting their sales targets once Let's Go is released. Really liking the look of that from what was shown in the Treehouse, and if (when) that sells a fuck load I reckon they'll start adding the other regions/pokemon either as DLC or sequels in a Let's Go Series to run alongside the "proper" series.

Portable Fortnite already exists on the iPhone/iPad (and soon Android), so it's not a unique selling-point to buy a Switch.

Maybe not but it was downloaded 2 million times since yesterday. A lot of people seem happy to have fortnite on the switch.

The rumour was that Nintendo were refusing dev kits to indies who were just wanting to port stuff. Doesn't really add up considering that Tomorrow Corporation got to port their entire catalogue for launch. This was over a year ago. They clearly don't have an issue now.

We've lost tons of great studios because their backers didn't have enough faith to wait and see if gamers returned them another hit after a wobbly spell. Investors are king in business, and they're widely short-termists in gaming (the big guns, that is).

The next major Nintendo uptick might be years away, and their investment risk has just increased because they'll have less money if their backers become nervous. Will they? Only they can answer that.
