Never bother with screen protectors on anything, does the switch really need one?

Neither do I, but I would get one for the Switch. There is a risk of scratches from the dock.

The Switch screen is plastic.

Get a glass protector for it, it feels nicer and if you're like me, it means you can wipe the screen without cringing and

My mother in law says her Switch, which basically lives in the dock 99% of the time, has scratches on the screen from the dock (despite me giving her the 2nd screen protector which I presume she didn't apply...)

I think I paid 6 quid or something for a twin pack from Amazon.  It's been on there a year, and looks the same as when I applied it, and the console will be the same underneath, can't think of any reason why you wouldn't, other than to avoid spending such a small amount of money.

Other than that, I'd add:

A case of some form, if you ever plan to take it anywhere.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Mario / Rabbids

Splatoon

Lots of time.

Just done the deed and ordered a switch, mario and hyrule warriors.  Aside from a memory card, anything else I need to get for it?

Missed the wii u totally so there will be plenty to get stuck into.

Obligatory SPLATOON 2 response.

Very low risk of scratches from the dock. So long as you take care of it you won't need a screen protector.

Mine scratched so bad now from my dock that I'm going to have to buy a replacement screen protector on the way home from work. So glad I put one on there from day 1.

I tried to put my Switch in the dock upside down the other day. I really should get around to putting the screen protector on I bought six months ago.

I’m put off from doing so because it means I’d have to clean the screen to do so, and I’m convinced the accumulated filth is currently hiding the scratches.

Get a screen protector as soon as possible (The Orzly one is solid)

I bought a tempered glass screen protector for mine and it makes using the touchscreen feel a bit nicer. Gives a more premium finish.

Intrigued how dust is coming to switch considering it was financed by Microsoft. Might be a chance cup head comes to switch then.

I would imagine there was a set time in the agreement signed which has now passed.

I just realized that the only two games I'll buy (day one) this year are Octopath and Pokémon. I'm fine with that to be honest as they're both huge games and I've already spent too much money on the thing anyway, plus I still have plenty of Hyrule Warriors to play as well! 2018 is allll right.

When's Fire Emblem out though?
