Pokemon Quest is fun but its true home will be on mobile, just like Animal Crossing Pocket Camp.

Even so, they could end up making more money on Switch where the time to wait between expeditions is likely to prove more frustrating. Definitely not one to sit down in front of a TV with unless you’re willing to pay for the experience to last beyond half an hour each time. Touch screen control is the way to go too.

Anyway, I was enjoying it for what it is and then added a Level 15 Growlithe to my party and now it might be love.

I know I'm  massively late to the party, but I'm kinda kicking myself for not getting on the Switch train earlier. Our house is suddenly buzzing about games. Wife wants to get Mario World 3 (I assume this is a NES title? I was a Sega man growing up), the kids are asking to play MK every waking minute of the day, and we haven't even taking the wrapper off Zelda yet because there has literally been no time to play it. But I'm going to correct that one tonight, these guys need an introduction to RPGs they can actually play.

What's the sound output like on the Switch? Worth connecting up a 5.1 soundbar? I currently have optical direct from Xbox to the soundbar, but I think I'll try routing it via the TV if it's worth doing.

Splatoooooooooooooon 2.

That'll cure them of that. By replacing it with a different addiction...

Sound is good. Don't think it uses DD or DTS, just uncompressed LPCM channels audio over HDMI. Not sure how that would work via optical, you might just get stereo.

You're only getting stereo though.

Just you wait. Once that wrapper opens suddenly it will be 200 hours later and you've still not seen the ending. So magical. You'll even be happy just watching others immerse themselves in Hyrule.

Talking of Zelda, I was that one that couldn't get on with it and sold it, then got the RPG bug with Xenoblade and rebought. I'm about 10 hours in, what on earth was I thinking? I can't figure out why I didn't get on with it? I'm. Bloody loving it and just can't wait to keep playing

Gear club can now be had for around 20 odd quid am debating whether to get for my 11 year old that is car mad and spent ages on need for speed Wii U. Or do I hold out for something that's not ported up from a mobile game?

I want a decent racer too, apart from Mario Cars obviously, I'd love the PSP Ridge Racers game given a lick of paint or even the old PS1 titles made available as downloads. OutRun 2 would be incredible as well. There is easy money to be made by giving people what they want.

I'd say it's worth a punt at that price.  It's rather shallow, with very short races, and it's fiddly and irritating to have to update your garage.  But the actual racing is fun, and there's not exactly much choice of racer with cars as opposed to karts.

Brilliant. I know Li-on batteries inherently lose capacity over a full cycle, but I figured modern power management takes account for devices on continuous charge. My tablet seems to, for example.

Youre overthinking the battery stuff, it will be managed so just get on Zelda and order Splatoon 2.

Really enjoying The Banner Saga right now. It’s really well written, with a few difficult choices to make.

Also got: DK:TF, BotW, SM Odyssey, and Axiom Verge on the go. Not to mention the other 11 games waiting to be played.

Gaming is is good right now.

Seems like EA are actually going to give FIFA on Switch another go....I suspect it actually sold better than they were expecting in the end.

FIFA 19 will look significantly better on the Nintendo Switch than last year’s game, EA Sports has revealed.

Andrei Lazarescu, Supervising Producer for FIFA World Cup mode, told Dream Team that FIFA 19 will arrive to Nintendo’s console with vastly improved graphics – despite once again not running on Frostbite.

However, he did not ‘close the door’ on using the technology in the future.

“I’m not closing the door on that possibility,” he said. “However we didn’t want to create a dumbed-down version of the frostbite engine.”

As per last year, FIFA 19 will instead run on a ‘custom engine’ built for specifically Nintendo’s hardware. But gamers can still expect a noticeable boost.

“The intent was never to have a one-off custom engine that were never going to touch again,”Lazarescu explained.

“It was to have that as a baseline and then build from there.”
