Oh man, haven't properly played Mario kart since the N64. Outstanding. Tussling 1st and 2nd with my daughter, and I wasn't trying to be slow.

 

The pads are a wee bit small for me, we're already thinking about those wheels you can bolt on.

Don't get the official wheel 2 pack, they are too small, well thry are fine for my 4 year old, but bigger ones would suit us both.

Others are cheaper and bigger apparently.

Pro controller is the best motion control option in Deluxe. Feels ace. Which I was surprised about because my previous experience using a traditional controller for gyro steering with the dualshocks never felt right. The Pro just sits in your hands right though. Buy four of those. Joycon in the grip feels okay and quite steering wheel like too.

 

Played a bit of Mario Kart last night after a few beers.

Still the best game on the system.

My wife wanted to "play something like Animal Crossing together" so I did what any good Nintendo Switch owner would, I took one for the team and bought Stardew Valley.

 

With the small amount of gaming I do, I wonder if I'll play anything else ever again!

I really hope all consoles use USB C now, plugging in the joy cons to charge is effortless. As an immediate comparison, my XB1 pad was also charged, but you have to waggle the connector out (official charging cable). 

 

Anyway, now I've finally been able to get the kids off it, can I pin code purchases? I want to leave myself logged in to the store because my password is secure and going to be proper ball ache to keep entering.

Sorry, another noob question. I didn't realize the grip it came with didn't charge, so bought a charging grip. In retrospect,I should have got a standalone 4x charger. Anyway, while the console is in standby, is The USB port on the front getting power? I've got the grip on the but I'm not sure how to tell if they're charging.

BOOO!!!. I got my switch back! What a lovely gaming device is.

 

Tomorrow I will be losing against everyone on various Street fighters.

Then I will play Bayonetta. After hours studying combos... As soon as I start playing  I forget them all!!! AMAZING.

Sadly not. I’ve just changed my password to a weaker one hoping that two-factor will cover me for any potential breaches.

Can't you set up PIN and eShop restrictions via the Parental Control app?

Another noob question. When I dock the Switch (even while it's in standby) the screen briefly flickers white. I can't tell what it displays, is it just a "yay, docked!" message or something? I fired my TV back up to make sure it was still off, and it appears to be the case. I don't generally like to leave devices switched on and idle.

 

Also, I'm assuming the joy cons charge while attached and the Switch is docked? And is the whole thing clever enough not to allow the main and controller batteries to combust? Not a huge fan of something continually sat on a dock charging either, but I assume Nintendo added some clever power management to maintain battery condition.

 

For those with kids, have you added a tempered glass screen protector, or similar? I'm wondering how it'll hold up to kids pulling it on and off the dock. My 5 year old is a bit hard wearing on devices.

 

Complete aside, first thing my kids talk about when waking up today is playing Mario Kart. Another generation of Nintendo gamers created

It flickers white because youve got the theme set to the wrong one. It should flicker black,

No idea but it was never an issue for the Wii U.

I've no screen protector and my daughter hasn't scratched it.

Brilliant. I know Li-on batteries inherently lose capacity over a full cycle, but I figured modern power management takes account for devices on continuous charge. My tablet seems to, for example.

I bought a pack, but never got around to fitting them. I keep the switch tucked behind the TV, and only pull the dock out to play it. May reconsider if my daughter (also 5) starts wanting to play it independently.

Yup - I also bought the Green/Pink joycons to accompany the Red/Blue ones, and I generally keep one set on the switch for handheld play, and one set off for TV play. When the "off set" get flat, I swap them round. It works really well.

Pretty sure it's just a "yay plugged into a power source and the battery is charging". I think it just shows the battery in the corner

Bethesda are teasing a Twitch stream with the 'Please Stand By' image...surely a new Fallout would be an E3 drop so 2+2 it's a remaster of 3 or NV. Hopefully Switch-bound.

Just a quick heads up that for some reason the Anker ones (certainly the two that I tried, a 10400 and a much bigger 20100) wont’t charge / recognise the pro controller. My Aukey one does though.
