I've been playing Golf Story the last few weeks as well, very enjoyable except I got to the final course last night and the difficulty seems to have ramped up massively, excessively so I felt.

Finished every other course in first place but in this one I finished last and was something like 20 over.

Put a bit of a dampener on the game for me, will attempt again but hoping it doesn't put me off finishing.

It took about 4 attempts but I was only off first by one or two points each time. It's not *that* much harder.

Try to play safe rather than go for shortcuts, I found.

You read all the comments actually discussing it, right? Not just the_debaser's?

People who liked it just seemed to say that they liked it rather than what they liked about it. And it looks awful. But I want it to be good.

True 'nuff. It certainly looks like one to demo if you can - I've been ragging on @the_debaser a little cheekily, but he did explain that he didn't like the mini-game nature of it. Most of those that praised it seemed to enjoy the social aspect a lot, so maybe a good game to get if you have a family to play it with. And spare Joycons, I expect...

I want it to be something my daughter will play with me and also be able to comfortably play on her own and do well at. The only 2 games she can play without moaning are Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart (on the assist mode) and Labo stuff.

It turns out that if you don't log into Nintendo's servers for a while ( I've no idea how long, been keeping my original Switch on firmware 3.0.0 for a literal age ) then you lose access to any digital purchases until you touch on their servers again, went to fire up Thumper last night and it pops a message saying I can't play until I do so :(

I think this is to force you to accept updates to their Ts&Cs. My JP account did this the other day.

Same thing on XBL and PSN though, isn't it? Last time I used my 360 I couldn't play a downloaded game until I signed back into XBL.

v3.0.0 was 11 months ago so it could be once every 6 months or so.

I never beat it and it felt like there where too many random elements to bother giving it more than a few tries.  Excellent game though.

It is a big difficulty spike in an otherwise quite straightforward game. Took many attempts but I'm glad I saw it out eventually.

As for the pro controller, I still can't immediately remember which is the ZL/ZR button and which is the R/L button. Like, I know it but, in the heat of the moment, it still takes me a split second to go 'oh, ZR is the lower one'. It doesn't help that on the GameCube the Z button was above the R button. Why can't we just have R1 and R2...

That’s awesome!

With the SEGA Ages line comzing I’m sure OutRun will officially come to Switch.

I'm fairly sure that SEGA lost the Ferrari licence so it would be highly unlikely - wouldn't they have to get the licence back?

Hackers have started getting banned from online play by Nintendo. I'm fairly sure I've seen one on Splatoon 2 before.

I kinda get it, Nintendo have used Z for the ‘under’, or trigger, button on the N64 and the Wii nunchuck in the past. Doesn’t explain the GameCube though!

You can still buy it on 3DS.

They've just switched the Ferrari stallion with an Armani logo, it's absolutely fine.

Also, one of the best uses of 3D on the system.

So we're just talking the original Outrun rather than the excellent Sumo Digital version - I'd rather get the version that was available on Xbox Live and have the multiplayer thrown in.

From what i understand, it's not possible to hack the games to ruin gameplay (yet). Just stuff like changing how many wins you got etc. Maybe with Splatoon you can unlock stuff early, but nothing too game breaking. Stuff that really should be handled server side.

The people being banned (confirmed 1 so far) have done some other stuff that likely has resulted in the ban.

By the time you've bought a decent PSU it's barely cheaper at all. You might as well buy the dock version and sell the dock.

There's history for this kind of thing in Japan, though. From memory both the AV Famicoms and Super Famicoms came without a power adaptor, on the assumption you'd re-use the one from your original Famicom.

Not sure it'll float here, though. Dockless maybe, but not PSU-less. People used to get in enough of a bate about Playstations selling without memory cards.

The 3DS XL proves Nintendo can do dumb shit like this though :(

It's not that it doesn't come with a PSU (the 3DS doesn't here either), it's that in order to get a PSU the price ends up almost the same as a "full" Switch. So pointless.

I charge mine with a £5 USB cable.

Sure.

A Switch in Japan is 30,000 yen. This new one is 25,000 yen. That's only about £34 cheaper. £29 with your £5 cable, although I'd personally buy a decent USB PSU at nearer £20.

You could sell the cradle for more than that as they're £80 new. So buy a "full" Switch, sell the dock and PSU, and get a £5 cable and a game or two with the money.

Absolutely right, I think anyone buying the cheaper no dock one with only a £34 saving is basically, crazy, or likes throwing money away.

The £5 USB cable will charge it, but not as quickly as the official charger, which is £25 from Amazon - though i see you get unofficial ones for £16 now.

The idea of of dockless Switch package is certainly a good one. I'm likely to be in the market for a second Switch (which won't need to be docked) when the Pokemon game comes out (if not before) and that would be perfect. The price though, nope.
