I would quite enjoy a pokemon yellow remake. The wife and I have just started with pokemon Go again too so I don't mind them linking up.

I think the first game could never be on the same scope as BOTW but I would expect something like it down the road otherwise it would be severely disappointing.

Don't read this @rgraves, you'll get so angry. :p

That one is not as bad - not anywhere near so full of "we knew all this already" or "lines up with what we already knew". It has some still, old habits die hard for them obviously, but it's a much better reporting of news that others have broken, with much less of an attempt to make out they knew it all already.

So it does indeed sound like an HD update of the 3DS games which I suppose was to be expected given the relatively short development time and neccessity to bring it to market this year.

I know fuck all about Pokemon having only ever played the very first 'red' edition back on my original Gameboy.

Is it any good? I quite like the idea of doing stuff on my phone whilst I'm out and then uploading that to the Switch.

An announcement must be days away now..

I've had every (Real) Pokemon and still love them. The last one was the first ever that I completed the full Pokedex. Would love for there to be a way to transfer my Pokemon across at some point

Yeah there's a story. Level up Pokemon, catch new ones, fight other people, trade pokemans, if you wanna get well into it you can delve into breeding and min/maxing stats. There's a surprising amount of depth to them.

What do you actually do in them? I mean is there a story, do you level up like an RPG?

I can't remember anything from Red.

Yeah there's a story and you battle your way through Gyms levelling up the Pokemon you catch, generally heading towards defeating The Elite 4 and becoming a Pokemon Master

The worlds are pretty big too really.  In a traditional RPG sense, you visit towns, you rest and buy stuff and then you go on to travelling or dungeon sections, or both where you'll have battles.

As you go, the Pokemon level up, and you can catch new ones, and level them up.

The main "point" is to beat the gyms and become the very best, like no one ever was!  But in the games there's usually some troublemakers up to no good, too.

It's an old school JRPG with added collecting/training/evolving monsters.   Fights are between the monsters you have and the ones you encounter.

I played Moon recently (first one I've played in 5 years?) and really enjoyed it - the world and characters have a lot of personality and a fun lighthearted tone, although parts of it are really straining under 20 years of accumulated cruft - almost every NPC in the game gives you an item or has a role performing some functionality required to evolve or teach a move to a specific creature from three generations ago that relied on some abandoned minigame.

Like everyone else, I was hoping for a bit more of a significant reboot.

So based on tenuous evidence ("registered through the same company" - do you know how many domains are registered via, say, GoDaddy?) this has gone from "rumour" to IT'S THE FIRST PROPER HOME CONSOLE POKEMON.

Even if the names are real, who says it's a "real" RPG Pokémon game? Could be a virtual pet. Could be a drawing tutor. Could be utter bollocks.

You often can't until you find it registers at a much lower capacity when you reformat it.

Any good fake will lie to the OS, the only sure fire way to work out the real capacity of a fake is to write data to every supposed data sector with a program on a computer designed to verify capacity.

I didn't say these were good fakes :)
