Nintendo have said they're only talking about 2018 titles at E3 so maybe don't get TOO excited. I'm sure they still have some exciting new stuff to show for the latter half of the year besides Smash Bros but it's not going to be a complete blowout of their future plans, and titles like MP4 and Bayonetta 3 will likely be absent if they stick to their word.

I get excited about switch re-releases because it's a portable console with actual buttons that plays full fat games. It's the only thing that I am able to find time to play at the moment, and that's probably going to be how it is for the foreseeable future. I've wanted that for years: arguably you had things like the Shield and android portables, but they always came with compromises.

It's a huge bonus for me that there are amazing exclusives on it as well, and that it's a unique multiplayer machine: but Nintendo getting this thing out at a reasonable price, with a lovely little form factor and providing a solid(ish) infrastructure for indies and niche remasters/rereleases is more than enough reason for them to take my money.

Yeah Pokemon is borderline for that reason. I think if they're planning a 2018 release it will be there.

I don't think they can just ignore MP4 given they have already announced it. They need to give us something.

Edit. Same with Bayo 3. Isn't that slated for a 2018 release anyway?

what's currently on offer which, from my point of view, is mainly ports or re-releases with the one USP being that you can play them on the go.

I think this is the crux - because a lot of people would look at the system see Odyssey, BotW, Splatoon 2, ARMS, Kirby, Labo, FEW, Golf Story, Mario +Rabbids etc and say there is already a lot of really good content on a platform that's not even 18 months old yet.

I'd love some new and original , exclusive Switch title sto come out, but it's early days yet, most third party publishers were NOT expecting anything from the new Nintendo platform, so they have little to bring to the table apart from remasters rereleases etc, it's exactly the same as the PS4/X1 launhes, wheer big 3d parties were cautious and we spent the next year to 18 months getting PS360 remasters as no one had proper new games to bring out.

The days of even the Japanese doing system exclusives is starting to draw to a close, so I wouldn't hold my breath for much in the way of exclusives. It'll more likely start sharing new software releases with something else, but at least those will be games not released previously.

And Breath of The Wild. That's as much if not more of a Switch game than a Wii U one.

Well apart from it being originally designed for the Wii U you know with the Sheika slate looking exact like a Wii U pad, I think moving it to the switch they removed the second screen stuff that would have otherwise been in the game.

Am I? I guess I must be. I'm not critical of what the Switch currently is, it's just different to what I thought it would be I suppose. I fully accept that I may not be the target demographic, I guess I'm just surprised that so many people seem to be loving what's currently on offer which, from my point of view, is mainly ports or re-releases with the one USP being that you can play them on the go.

I get that not everyone has a PC or other console they could have got these games on (a lot cheaper) but I'm not sure it's especially rare. I suppose viewing it as a home console on a TV for Nintendo games is just wrong or missing the point somehow. It is that, of course, but without the rest, for which I'm clearly in a small minority it doesn't appeal to, there's not much of it yet or seemingly on the near horizon.

It's a little over a year old, every other new console has been in the same boat early on. The odd new game and the release schedule is filled with ports and remasters to fill gaps. New games take time, who knew?!

It’s a console for playing on the bus and train. The fact you can plug into the telly and it looks even better is just a sweet bonus.

The Wii U pad that looks like a Switch?

Maybe who knows, point is many people bought a Switch to play it and it came out day and date with the Wii U version so can't be considered a port in the same way Mario Kart is, or Donkey Kong.

Hopefully there’ll be a demo of Hyrule Warriors. Cos I’m not sure Musou is for me.

Like any sane person, musou games are not for me. However I absolutely fell in love with Hyrule Warriors on 3DS and cannot wait to play through it again.

I love the damn game. When it was in development I didn't dare say this to Mike but I thought it looked trash. Couldn't see the appeal in it. Then I got to play it and changed my tune very quickly.
