Plan to turn the switch into a portable fighting game platform is doable!

Just need the following: https://twitter.com/HORI__OFFICIAL/status/97131008951159603

and

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gam3Gear-Nintendo-Controller-Adapter-Keychain/dp/B07546MV9J/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1524660564&sr=8-1&keywords=brook+converter+switch. No idea where in the UK I'll be able to buy the former, but that's not an issue until the next exam season, when the missus starts dragging me to libraries to keep her company as she studies.

It will run fuck all

I wouldn't be too sure of that, just saw a video of it doing console inception, running Linux, running Dolphin, running Wind Waker.

There are other videos out there showing it running other Linux native software too, so it's pretty far along already. Much more so than even the PS4 which has been compromised for a while to some degree, only the Xbox remains safe (to my knowledge).

Hah, she's... there's nothing on her plate! Keep looking all you want, Lisa (and by extension Switch fans looking for new games that aren't ports in 2018) THERE'S NOTHING THERE SO YOU WONT FIND ANYTHING!

Great meme, debaser. Great meme.

I need some advice re: Zelda.  I bought it when I got my Switch and put around 20 hours in.  I thought it was pretty impressive and kinda enjoyed it, but not to the extent of others.  I then got distracted by other games, but have recently picked it up again after listening to the TGCS podcast GOTY episode as it's clearly something special.

I'm still not feeling it though. It's ok, but the shrines are starting to feel a bit same-y, and I seem to spend a lot of time walking around, fighting a few bad guys, walking some more.  I do like climbing mountains and gliding off them though.

Is it just not the game for me, or should I persevere?

To give an idea of how far I've got, I've defeated one divine beast (the elephant) and have about 6 or 7 hearts.

(I'm asking here rather than the Zelda thread as clearly everyone there loves it!)

I think the beauty of it is you can do what you like. If you're not a fan of the shrines they're not compulsory, you can get better loot and health just from fighting or exploring. The health wouldn't be permanent, it comes through cooking but exploring mountains will give you more than enough resources to overcome the lack of hearts and stamina.

I am having similar feelings toward Zelda. I think its because its such a change from the old ones in that it gives you so much freedom. I kind of liked the tight storylines and sort of semi linear approach of the series before because it told a story you progressed and were, to a degree, guided through. The new one gives you a world to explore and the tools to use in it and you effectively make your own stories / paths to get to the goal. In some ways this is the core of the ethos of Zelda however it only recently has had perhaps the technology and designers to follow and push it that way.

Guess things change though and well changes seem to be popular. Guess it needed to evolve somehow so this is the first move by Nintendo to make the changes. For me the world feels a bit barren... and the characters feels a bit flat so to speak.

Maybe I'm just Zelda'd out at the moment. Going to leave it a while before I pick it up again... probably over winter this year.

Pokken has shipped over a million copies, not sure about sales though.

Wow impressive! :) Think the Labo kit will sell extremely well too and drive console sales further.... Xmas will be extremely good for Nintendo...  I expect the Switch will ultimately see sales not far of the Wii.

Blimey....in other words, an absolute fuckton of other sales.

Unrelated question:  Am I right in thinking it was recently announced that My Nintendo would start to include Switch discounts in the rewards stuff?

I don't think so - it's basically the gold coin stuff - you can use that to discount whatever you want....
