So, there's a Harvest Moon - Light of Hope port for Switch out in June. I had no idea.

Is this one any good? I've never played a HM game. How does it differ from Stardew?

Well, the Harvest Moon games now aren't made by the people who made the old (good) Harvest Moon games. Story of Seasons is, IIRC, by the original Harvest Moon folk, and so is generally regarded as the true lineage.

Stardew Valley is better (if not graphically, obviously) than any Harvest Moon game I've played, although the newest one I've played was the Wii one.

So dunno.

Avoid at all costs. The Harvest Moon name is owned by a bunch of shysters now, real Harvest Moon games are called Story of Seasons. Just do an image search for Harvest Moon - Light of Hope, it looks like utter shite.

Death Road to Canada, which was due to release this week has been postponed until further notice, due to he current situation in Toronto.

Good move from the developers / publishers, not only to show a little respect, but also some media I dare say would have used it for some bullshit story too.

Jesus fucking christ.

You know what's weird, and something I find genuinely fascinating? How the style, aesthetic and "charm" of a game can make all the difference.

What I mean is, you could put that monstrosity of a screenshot next to a very similar screenshot of, say, Animal Crossing, and the difference would be night and day.

In fact, here's three screenshots, all from different games but all showing roughly the same thing: a character in the woods from an isometric viewpoint:

There's more charm and style in the first two than in the soulless third one, and I'm someone who thinks Stardew Valley is fugly. The third one just lacks...something. Je ne sais quoi. But whatever it is it doesn't have is clear and loud in comparison.

Manticore impressions required STAT

It's OK. Looks nice, plays well in an arcade style, missions are kind of short, a lot of content from what I can see so far (not yet opened up the two locked regions), overuses the phrase "Watch your six" massively. Pretty much textbook seven-and-a-half-gerkins-out-of-a-big-mac.

I'd give it a recommendation if you're a fan of this stuff, but it's not going to convert you if you're not. I'm glad I got it, but YMMV.

I’ve turned on my Switch for the first time in a week or so and the left joycon stick is behaving very strangely.

Pressing down on the stick elicits almost almost no response for the first second or so; when it does get going and I release it seems to track upwards for about a half second. I saw this both while playing Doom and using the calibration tool - something I tried twice to no improvement.

Ive updated the joycons, restarted the system, disconnected and reconnected, no change. The problem happens when connected or using wirelessly, so that doesn’t seem to be part of it.

Anyone else seen this?

Wait, what's the deal with Harvest Moon? Has another developer got the rights to that name now then? I'm confused.

Not quite, as I understand it, the publisher always owned the name and when the developer decided to self-publish and be distributed by NoE they had to change it, which actually meant using the same name as Japan.

The exact same scenario happened with Championship Manager -> Football Manager.

I've had this too recently. Ever since the last joycon update the left joycon occasionally freaks out. Really annoying when trying to browse the store.

Not sure I agree, isn't it better for terrorism to not have an effect on our lives and decisions?

Yeah imagine the crowing at the next ISIS AGM...
