Whatever you do, don't get Splatoon 2 .

Lol, thanks.  Wasn't on my radar, so I don't think that'll be at all likely.

Shame Dark Souls has gone back.  Hopefully it'll come out just in time for the dark days of winter, which seems a much more suitable time to play it.

RIght, I'll get Mario and God of War this weekend, then.  Cheers.

Can't say I'm surprised, the Dark Souls Switch port is handled by the Chinese studio Virtuos who botched Final Fantasy X/X2 HD. Let's hope they have improved.

Why do you hope they have improved if you don't have one.

Seems a bit pointless to emulate the Switch version of a port on your PC ;)

Haha, I only said don't get it, as it will last you a lot longer than the release of Dark Souls. Mario is outstanding though, and by the sounds of it, God of War looks pretty damn good too.

Golf Story

Sorry, not for me.  And yes, I fully appreciate that my ridiculous hatred of games in that style means that I'm missing out on some classics, but I can live with that.  I played enough games that looked like that back when all games looked like that.

See also: Stardew Valley.  I watched my kids play it on PS4 for about 3 minutes before I had to leave the room.  I just don't get the attraction, when games can (and regularly do) look so much better.

Yes not sure either. Think retro games are big at the moment and especially ones with 8-bit pixel art.

Yes they were good back in the day but these days? The other thing I am getting a little tired off too is the volume of arty platform games about... seem to be lots around very pretty but the gameplay is very old school but then I grew up in the 80s and was inundated with them back then where arguably the best for concepts and ideas were born. So guess my view is slightly jaded as it feels like I have seen a lot of things before.

Still I suppose having plenty of choice is great... Still haven't bought anything from Nintendos e-shop yet... hmmmm.... Still enjoying Mario and to some degree Zelda at the moment though.....

Some games may look better but no other game in the genre comes close to Stardew, for me it's a masterpiece.

Splatoon 2 *should* be on your radar. It's bloody genius. Nintendo at their very, very best IMO.

But it's not something you'll be done with in a month (or can easily play on a train unless it has decent wi-fi really). It's consuming. It's 3 minutes of joy and fun and panic and triumph (or despair) over and over and over.

Does this discussion really need to happen? Yeah, it's not technically legal to rip your music, dvds or play emulated games that you own - but I'd be surprised if anyone here would argue that it's immoral to play an emulated version of a game that you legitimately own. Even if they would, I still don't think it's a particularly interesting discussion to dredge up again.

That wasn't what @Kirby was saying, he was saying that piracy and emulation aren't related.

Does anyone know anything about SD cards? Specifically, what the hell is wrong with the one I bought?

I had a 16GB card in there for ages, finally went and bought a 128GB one to replace it with. And, it seems that certain things just won't download to it without erroring. So, it has no problem with letting me put Puyo Puyo Tetris on there, but Rocket League is a no-go. Annoyingly, it lets me download the entirety of Bayonetta before saying there's an error, and then checks for corrupt data. Which it finds, and tells me to redownload from the start.

I mean, I can't even get the update data for some games on there. Mario Kart 8D isn't that big of a file, but it fails every single time. In the end I've taken the SD card out completely to allow the MK8D data to go to system memory instead. It's all very weird. It can't be the card that's faulty, because it clearly isn't faulty for some games, but just doesn't seem to want to work with some others. I'm utterly baffled by it.

Nice new hints from Nintendo's Shinya Takahashi about a new waverace game

“You may see that game again [...] We have been trying to make many games and that may be one of them … I personally love Wave Race!”

He should do as he was the director of wave race 64. Let's have some lovely wave race intro

Don't tease us. So so good. :)

The card is faulty.

Rogue Aces today lads. Two man team at ISG. Music by our own Kevvy Metal.

Bought this has I had credit. Felt strange at first then it clicked. A whole lot of fun! I've already spent hours on it.

My most played switch game so far, I prefer it over Rabbids as it's just lovely to pick up and play! Literally Aces.

My only negatives are:

- in the frontline campaign mode it's difficult to know what building or area you need to destroy to complete and island. I spent ages last night bombing the hell out of everything and finally crashed. Needs much better signposting.

- there are a bunch of modes still not unlocked and I feel I've played quite a long while already. Be a bit more generous/don't lock them off (so old school)/or give me some in game currency so I can buy them. That at least gives me a reward to work towards.

I have an exclusive leak regarding upcoming Switch games at E3. Please note, this leak is not verified yet:

Where did that come from?

Also, most of those games are likely to be shown anyway due to already being announced. 1080 has actually been mentioned in the past day or two as possibly being a thing.

One of them you unlock in the credits. Have you done that? I believe the rest of them will unlock as you hit milestones in the game.

It was related to what he originally said before people became needlessly pedantic just because NEG Kirby is annoying.

Reads more like a wishlist mixed with stuff already announced.

I would be surprised if you could play as a animal in AC. Also, the starfox storie thing sounds a bit strange BUT maybe it's the direction to go.

I would hope there are a few more surprises from nintendo from this but i hope at least the Mario maker stuff is true. Can't wait to see what Retro's new IP is - they must have been working on it for years now.

The original point was this. Nothing to do with making back ups. And no one was really arguing the morals of piracy either. Defend @Kirby all you like but no one was being pedantic, he was just diverting the argument.

I know you're trolling as you always troll and I really shouldn't bite but playing games at a higher resolution isn't an argument for piracy, and I'm not sure you can start talking about preservation 13 months into a system's life.

Unless of course you plan to buy copies of the games alongside your emulated copy?

Probably a fake card. Where did you buy it from? You can get utils on the web the check the actual capacity of cards out. What the fake card makers do is program the controller onboard the SD card to report back to the PC that it has say 128GB of memory, when in fact there could be as little as a GB actually physically on there.

I had a fake san disk card posted out to me years ago from a supplier on Amazon - tell tale signs are the bar code on the packaging doesn't report back the content of whats inside and other subtle differences in the actual packaging design itself. Emailed Amazon are they refunded straight away never even asked for the card back.

Of course the card could just be faulty too...

EDIT

More info here:-

If you have the time/energy you can get a memory card tester (HTestw) here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/H2testw.shtml . It will take a fair while though as it writes and reads to each byte of the card. (make sure you put it into a USB3 port if you want to test it quicker!)
