No, I haven’t, and it’s not remotely comparable anyway. Nintendo are advertising these games as if they are something to be excited about, flagpole titles, when in fact they’re just rehashes which would’ve took about a week to put together and released at intervals to fill out an otherwise empty release schedule.

Why does the person playing this never move their weapon up or down when shooting? Is it fixed or something? They seem to just strafe along the same axis the whole time.

Really shows why I never got on with the first one. It’s very much about putting more bullets in them than they do in in you, kind of thing. You’re all but guarenteed to get shot hence the liberal availability of health packs at every turn.

I don’t know anything about the games beyond just watching that clip, but if an FPS isn’t about nailing sweet headshots, what’s the point?

If the Wii U had been a roaring success you might have a point. But it wasn’t, so for many people these ARE games to be excited about.

I’ve owned every Nintendo console bar the Wii U (and Virtual Boy!) and am really looking forward to some of these games.

You can drop everyone in Wolfenstein with headshots

From what I saw in that clip it seemed you were unable to move the gun either up or down when shooting, so I can be forgiven for thinking otherwise.

Yeah they should advertise them as something not to get excited about that would work better.

Besides, Hyrule Warriors and Donkey Kong are both out in May during their busiest release schedule so far this year. Donkey Kong is out a week after Labo, Hyrule 2 weeks after that.

I didn’t see that in the clip I watched!

Mind you, that clip made the controlling look pretty jerky, I must say. Any other decent combat vids?

EDIT: @SMD

That's the original, haven't played 2 yet. Still playing The New Order, it's pretty fun.

Best game.

That'll be decent when they add the other 48 frames per second it's currently missing. I'm not sure if it's the low animation frames or frame skipping but that's an awful showcase for the game.

I believe I read somewhere that they're targeting 60fps and that this is an earlier build. But as you said; no idea why they thought it would be a good showcase for the game though.

Does your Mac support SDXC cards?

Yep!

I ended up using Windows. But to copy all of the stuff over would have taken a whole day, so I copied the photos and videos and just downloaded the rest. My internet connection is faster than the transfer speeds in Windows.

Have you seen a direct feed video? If so, got a link?

Does anyone have any tips for a SteamWorld Dig 2 newbie?

I've played a couple of hours and I don't get it yet. It feels like an exploration game, but also a bit metroidvania. The music is very relaxing, but overall the atmosphere is a bit strange. I'm also finding it a bit difficult in that I don't really know where to go or what I should be doing. There appears to be lots of impenetrable walls I can't get through too!

The reviews are all great. So I'm clearly missing something. I get the feeling I'm not playing it right. I didn't play the first game, is that the problem?

Can anyone tell me a bit more about the game or give me some tips?

Ok. You're right it is kind of a Metroid type exploration game but unlike Metroid there's very little need for backtracking other than uncovering secrets and going for 100% completion.

Some blocks will remain indestructible and some you will get upgrades which will allow you to break them.

What you need to focus on is getting to the points on your map marked with an 'x' you do so by mining your way there.

You'll come across lifts which will take you back to the town from the mine and the main game consists of trading in the gems you've mined for upgrades to your weapons and abilities - that's the main gameplay loop, mining and upgrading.

It's very laidback but you aren't playing it wrong. It's a slow burner and one which might take a little while to 'get' - it did with me but ended up being one of favourite games of last year, and by miles my favourite indie game.

Imagine if they could get Prey up and running :o

If a game can be run on Intel integrated graphics at somewhat playable framerates, then a port to the Nintendo Switch is technically feasible imo:

Can someone please talk me out of buying Xenoblade Chronicles? I've got a million games I've started and not completed but for some reason I'm massively tempted by this, as a Final Fantasy fan is it quite similar? Anybody got it and can give me any advice?

Cheers folks

Just buy it already.

(never played it and no interest in it but let’s cut to the chase here, you’re gonna buy it so may as well save some energy and get it out of the way)

It's nothing like Final Fantasy.

It's way better.*

*Better than most of them, anyway. It's closer to XII out of the lot. But it's better than that.

(I may be slightly biased as I think the first Xenoblade is my favourite JRPG ever)
