But it's Splatoon 2...it's not a port....it's not the same game. And it's bloody phenomenal.

Or play Odyssey, or Mario & Rabbids, or Xenoblade 2, or ARMS, or FEW, or Kirby...

Yes there are ports, but this narrative that there is nothing but ports is bonkers.

There are ports from other systems too - Skyrim, Doom, Dark Souls, Outlast, FIFA, Rocket League etc. Literally every indie game ever.. It's not as if it's just a couple of new Nintendo games and a million Wii U ports.

I am baffled at how anyone could struggle to find something to play right now.

I thought we were talking about upcoming games.   Depending on your taste there isn't much in the pipeline that's been announced.

I think it's entirely possible that someone had played all of those games to death.  Or at least the ones they are interested in.

They must have more time on their hands than I do. There're over 500 games on the eshop now, obviously there's a fair proportion of shite but there's still a great variety of good stuff on there too, whatever your tastes.

I guess that's true in some ways. But then off the top of my head I'm currently looking at:

Dark Souls, Mario Tennis, TSA:NMH, Little Nightmares, Octopath Traveller, Runner 3, Wargroove, Wolfenstein II, Yoshi, MP4 (2018, believe!)...

And there is bound to be some stuff at E3.....

Yeah, plenty to look forward to for me. Obviously not quite up there with 2017, and I'm sure 2019 will see more first party big hitters, but I've still got loads to play.

Dragon Quest Builders is currently taking up a lot of my time, then I have Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to go back to. Looking forward to all of the above, and Hollow Knight, too!

I bought Splatoon2, but that was about 9 months ago or something. Can’t keep us going forever, even with the announced single player DLC. I’ve rinsed Mario, Zelda, MK8, tried some other games like Arms and Kirby which aren’t great and have been living off the odd indie game at the moment.

I might have to get my PS4 out of the loft at this rate.

Speaking for myself its not that I *can't* find anything to play right now - but something that I want to play that is unique to Switch (have a PC too so lots of games come through steam on that are also on the Switch). Suppose it is unique in that it offers portable gaming however mostly use it docked anyway and mainly bought it for Mario and Zelda - I'm still playing Zelda so its keeping me happy for now. Dip in/out of other games on PC/PS4.

Looking forward to Yoshi though... looks incredibly good fun. I will have to checkout Splatoon 2 and also Arms as they look interesting...

Nintendo are clearly just holding back on a few things after a stonking 2017, prior to dropping the megatons at E3. They're just giving people a chance to catch their breath and play a few indie games. It's good for the indie business on switch and it means E3 is going to be even bigger for them.

I'm slightly different in that I'll now wait for the Switch version or choose that version over the others because of the versatility. Outlast II is a good example, could have bought it for less on PS4 but chose to wait, same with DQB.

There's always Retro Studios of course who knows what they're working on.

Possibly another Donkey Kong game, would make sense to make more of their most commercially successful games, given that Nintendo moved Metroid Prime to a contractor:

I haven't bought a Switch game since Mario Odyssey; I'm looking forward to some of the upcoming ports because I didn't own a Wii U, but there's no denying it's been a very quiet start to the year for exclusive Switch games whether you're interested in the ports or not. I'm not too fussed because I knew this was always bound to happen after last year and I own all consoles, but it'll be nice to have a reason to turn the machine on again soon. I think I've only used it for the odd multiplayer Mario Kart game this year.

They should just do a direct, say Pikmin 4 is out tomorrow, and that’d keep me happy till e3. I’m sure it was completed years ago.

In 2015 Miyamoto said it was almost complete. I suspect that means he has a good idea in his head how it will work as a game. To be honest I've been living in fear of them announcing the new Pikmin for a while - I'd have to drop everything and play it immediately. I really need to nail some of the backlog before E3.

I enjoyed Super Mario Odyssey (although didn't do the post-main-game stuff) and grew to grudgingly like Breath of the Wild despite it being a total confusing mess in many ways, but I haven't really enjoyed any other Switch games I've owned apart from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which I had already played on the Wii U. Splatoon 2 I absolutely detest, wouldn't have bothered had there been a playable demo for me to try out. Not sure if there's anything known coming soon that I would be that interested in, feels a bit like the early 3DS days after Ocarina of Time 3D, Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 had been released, but not a lot else.

Has anyone else upgraded their memory card? I’ve just got a 200GB card and the Switch sees it fine, but after I’ve copied the data from my old card over using my Mac it shows this error:

Tried it twice now, and it’s very time consuming copying 100GB+ stuff over. I’d just download everything again tbh, but I don’t want to lose my screenshots and videos.

:(

Replacement backplate arrived today as did the conductive foam for my JoyCon fix.

The wife is taking the little ones to see great grandma for the weekend so I can go and buy another Switch to replace the one I'm no doubt going to royally mess up when I attempt to fix it.

I think you need to put it [the new card] into the Switch and format it first, then copy everything over after that.

Mind you, that's not in the official steps:

Yeah, I've tried both methods :(

Apparently it could be a High Sierra issue, even though on the Nintendo support page it says using a Mac is fine, so I'm trying it on Windows now

I've got everything I need including the screwdrivers.

It's just I am shite at this sort of thing.

I'll be lucky if I don't burn down the house!

Oh, and just at retail (so eShop only releases not included), between now and the end of July, theres:

Both Labo kits

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze

Hyrule Warriors

Little Nightmares

Runner 3

Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2

Dark Souls

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary

Runbow Deluxe

Mario Tennis Aces

Crash Bendycunt N. Sane Trilogy

Octopath Traveller

Captain Toad

Wolfenstein II

So if you have a Wii U and all the games, and a PS4 or something with all those multiplatform games already, then sure. It's a bit barren. But that's just those at retail, and just those confirmed at retail.

I have a Wii U, have no interest in Donkey Kong, have Toad/Hyrule Warriors/Runbow already, don't care about Mario Tennis or Dark Souls, and have a PS4 and I've *still* got loads to look forward to. If I ever tire of the games I have at the moment (I bought the Fire Emblem Warriors DLC last week so that's me sorted until Christmas).
