Nespresso
Presentation looks a bit meh (cheap). That said, I'd probably still get it for the 3DS if it ends up on the cheap. Would be an excellent title to play during my train journeys.

the_debaser
What is going on with the lack of decent games being released or announced for the switch? Is every single publisher just waiting for E3? Seems like an odd way to do business. There’s been nothing brilliant released so far this year, just some ok indie titles, and there’s nothing really to look forward to. https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Upcoming-Games/Upcoming-Games-753286.html On the link above, I’m maybe interested in Yoshi and at a push Mario Tennis because there is literally fuck all else worth getting. I mean, Warioware on the 3DS looks like the most exciting game, ffs.
SMD
Based on nothing but conjecture I think we're getting a Direct this month. I thought we would get just a Smash direct but Activision being weird about Spyro on the Switch means I think in the next couple of weeks we're getting more info for the rest of the year. That's probably also because I never bought a Wii U which is paying off immensely now.

Roughly one big release each month, though I'm less interested in these first party games so far than anything released last year. Still, Kirby, Labo, Tropical Freeze and Tennis Aces will take us to E3, with Smash to follow imminently, Prime 4 teased, Pokemon teased, plus whatever is announced at E3. Having enjoyed XC2 but found it quite rough around the edges, I think they'd have done well to give it another few months development and fatten Q1. In any case, without defending this relative first-party lull, I'm happy to actually plough through my backlog and spend more time with ARMS and Splatoon, both of which are better than ever. I've also completed about twenty five Switch games in the last three months.

May Donkey Kong Hyrule Warriors Dark Souls PixelJunk Monsters 2 Street Fighter June Mario Tennis Ys VIII We've had Kirby, Dragon Quest Builders and Attack on Titan 2. Surely Wolfenstein II is imminent. We know Smash Bros is coming, Yoshi, Fire Emblem and probably Pokemon. It's definitely being bulked out by ports and mid tier stuff but there are excellent games there. I think Switch has taken everyone by surprise and a lot of third parties either have stuff in development now or will be ready to announce stuff soon. The biggest disappointment for me was the delay of Dragon Quest XI. That really should be launching alongside the PS4 version.

the_debaser
Yeah, I’m not really interested in remakes/remasters and don’t think they actually count. Hyrule Warriors, Toad, DK, etc could all be released now as they’re just ports and they all existed on WiiU years ago. They aren’t even that great to start with. There’s nothing really new new and exciting coming up. Labo will be ok, but isn’t much use for handheld gaming/travelling. E3 had better be decent. I appreciate that, having played pretty much everything on Wii U, albeit I'm glad to have them on Switch. First party stuff is a little thin to my tastes, I've never been really into Kirby (though I am enjoying Star Allies much more than expected) or Yoshi (which should be coming soon presumably) and I don't have enormously high hopes for Tennis Aces because I generally prefer 'straight' sports games, if at all these days. That said, even though we have little info, the next wave of big guns is absolutely on the horizon. Smash, Pokemon, and (presumably) Animal Crossing will surely explode when they arrive. Prime is unlikely to do as well financially but it'll hopefully please the older/longtime fans. I also fully expect a Mario Maker Switch to do really well when that turns up. I was never too worried about Year 2 because they have the IPs - it's Year 3 when things might start to get tricky. I've never really played much of any F-Zero so I don't understand the clamour. For me, having barely touched any indies on PS4, I've been overwhelmed with the quality, and I've surprised myself by how much I've loved the Neo Geo and Psikyo games as well as other pure arcade titles. I've never loved this kind of thing so much as on the Switch. And once Dark Souls arrives, I'm pretty much done til E3.

Well Labo is most definitely new and innovate, how exciting it is remains to be seen but who else is coming out with original ideas like that? New Nintendo seem pretty clued up and self aware right now. They know that the first half of 2018 is lacking new games compared to hit after hit they delivered in 2017 but let's not forget two of the biggest sellers, Mario Kart and Zelda, were also available on Wii U. And ARMS, Mario + Rabbids, Odyssey, Splatoon 2 etc all released in the latter half of that year too. In short, the Switch already has an extremely attractive catalogue which is selling the system. They don't need brand new AAA games every month, but they're definitely coming and in the meantime they're making a sensible business decision to port Wii U games interspersed with reliable titles such as Kirby and Mario Tennis. But I wouldn't underestimate Labo. If that blows up as expected it could be the biggest thing in ages.
JPickford
I agree with the_debaser that there's not a whole lot to look forward to at the moment. I'm all for the ports because they are mostly games that deserve a bigger audience but personally there's nothing announced I plan to buy. Apart from Labo which I will unashamedly enjoy myself. Hopefully a couple of announcements at E3 will turn it around. I just want some meaty single player stuff like Zelda, Mario etc.

rgraves
I agree that they need to add some titles to the future slate (and that's basically what E3 is for so let's see where we stand after that), but this: Quote There’s been nothing brilliant released so far this year Is just nuts IMO. I'm drowning under the volume of stuff being released on Switch right now that I want to play. None of it matters anyway, because I can't tear myself away from Splatoon 2. Have I mentioned how good that is? Because it is. Good I mean. Real good.

There's always Retro Studios of course who knows what they're working on. Personally I'm enjoying Dragon Quest Builders (which is massive!) and I'm happy to hoover up those Wii U games I missed, not to mention Dark Souls and possibly Wolfenstein II. I also really enjoyed Outlast II. I've barely started Xenoblade either. Too many games. And I've completed Kirby, twice now.
Marlew
I have an issue in that there's so much good stuff that I still feel I've only started getting into what they've released. Even Zelda and Odyssey are still absolutely stuffed with things to do. I could probably put another fifty hours into Zelda completing all the shrines I've got left and exploring unseen parts of the map and doing side quests, of which I've done virtually none. With Odyssey, I still have another 499 moons to go to see the true ending. As for Splatoon, ARMS and MK8D, even with 40 or 50 hours in, I feel they're only getting better as I improve. I could probably play those three games for another three to six months without anything else, if I had no choice, and I'd love it. My mate got a Switch at Christmas and has done nothing with it besides Zelda for three months. Throw in 100 hours of XC2 and a steady stream of new content for that, and I really really don't need Nintendo to release a AAA game until after E3. I need a bit of time to play what I've got without the distraction of the new. Throw in portable Dark Souls and I need to really quit my job.
