My picks from that:

Blaster Master Zero £6.29

KAMIKO £2.69

SteamWorld Dig £4.49

SteamWorld Dig 2 £11.24

SteamWorld Heist £11.24

Yeah I'm in for SWD 1 at that price. Blossom Tales is my pick of the bunch, only saving a couple of quid but I was going to buy it anyway.

Decent reductions on big proper games and that, but I was also hoping for slashed-up Virtual Console prices on Wii U and 3DS. Wanted to slaughter a bunch of GBA Castlevanias and shit.

As it is, think I’ll get Axiom Verge for my Switch. Got £1.30 worth of points expiring next week, so may as well.

Anyone know if you still get rewarded with new points on purchases that have been part-paid with redeemed points?

Oooooh, Floor Kids. I've been hoping for a discount on that.

Keep thinking I should probably get Super Beat Sports but I think the rhythm action skill gap in our household will render the game pretty dull to play.

But only against the amount not redeemed with points I believe.

You get the full amount I think - even if a title is on sale. So buying Doom (for example) in the sale, will give you gold coins for the full standard price.

I wonder if the discounts 'stack' - for example, don't you get a discount on buying the other RE:R title when you buy one? So if I buy RE(R)2 in this sale, do I then get the discount applied on-top of the sale price for RE(R)1?

If I could end up getting both for about £20, not a bad bit of business.....

No, doesn't look like that works.

Still, picked up RE:R2 for £7 after applying some gold coins. Can't be bad that...can it?

I might be tempted by Doom at that price. And a few of the others. However, I could get it on PS4 for cheaper. Which would be better - I do not game on the switch portably all that much. Is there multiplayer (assuming not).

I've got Doom, and I think it's a truly honestly great port. Yes it does have online multiplayer. It's the same Doom, just in your hands.

That said, obviously if you don't think you'll get any use out of the portable aspect then you can get it cheaper elsewhere on other formats easily enough.

Doom is one I'd love, but will pick it up physical at some point. In fact that is my plan for most if not all 'major' releases. if I can get physical then I will and keep digital for Indies and eShop only titles.

I think I am on the verge of being digi only. The only inhibiting factor for me is price. PC gaming has been effectively online only for a long time but also a lot cheaper.

Is is there a thriving online base of players on switch?

This Hori joycon mystifies me.  It is at odds with the design and intention of the switch as it is handheld mode only?!

i know Hori has a lot of respect for great products but this seems like a half measure. Each to their own though. I don’t see the need to replace the joycon for a DPad.

Because playing 2D platformers with the analogue stick or the 'd-pad' buttons isn't always optimal. That is literally the only reason, and it's a good one. The solution is only required for handheld mode because in other modes you can use the pro controller with its real d-pad. I'll be at the front of the queue.

Fair enough.  So far I’ve never had issues with it. However, on the converse side I do not know why the official joycon has four buttons rather than a DPad anyway. At the end of the day underneath it will be the same - similar to changing Sanwa joysticks for another kind in an arcade machine I suppose. Suppose it is all about tactile feel

It's so the JoyCon can be detached from each side and offer a stick and four face buttons for two-player games on the go. And it's great for that; I use it for Mario Kart versus most lunchtimes.

I don't have an issue with the dpad as it is. I'd welcome a right-hand JoyCon with two more face buttons for fighting games though.

The beautiful thing about the Hori joycon is that people who never felt the lack of d-pad was a problem can ignore it, and those of us who felt it was a big problem now have an optional solution. Everyone's happy.
