Ooh that's tricky.  Stardew Valley is an obsession but you have to have that kind of time to devote to it to get the best out of it.

Golf Story is maybe 10 hours of your life and you can sensibly walk away and play in small chunks and it's a bloody adorable RPG with some golf in it.

So which kind of thing you're looking for should drive this.

We were kindly given a £25 eShop voucher and have bought Vostok Inc, but now need to decide if we should get Stardew Valley or Golf Story?

So what say you Rllmuk?

As the developer of Vostok Inc. first of. thank you. Second...I've not played Golf Story but Stardew Valley is one of the greatest games of all time. I FUCKING love it! It just keeps giving.

As someone who bought Vostok Inc on release, I actually started playing it today.

I've put about 2 hours into it this morning. While this isn't @deKay levels of playing, I could see it becoming a problem. I had to force myself to quit and go out otherwise I would have lost the day.

However I have taken my Switch with me.

I think the lack of actual save points adds to this, as you never get to a natural stopping point. The devious fuckers!

Ideally needs to be something my 11 year old can get into too. I have a feeling it'll be a coin flip.

Golf Story is extremely dialogue, cutscene and story heavy. Depending on your kid's tastes, that could factor into things.

He has ADHD, so long periods of doing nothing could prove an issue. Thanks.

Both games "suffer" from this a little but I'd like to update my original answer to lean towards Stardew based on what's been said since :)

You guys are looking at a different game to me.

Agreed. You could say there's an admirable commitment to the flying saucers b-movie vibe and all, but it looks horrible to play.
