Christ no. My wife and I almost came to blows after 20 minutes. It was agreed that we would never speak of the Snipperclips again in our house.

Hah we had no such issues thankfully and made it to the third world relatively easily. However, we did get close to a fight with the hockey minigame though. That shit was intense!

So do you guys have different accounts on your Switch, one for each region? I already have a Japanese one from when I bought Monster Hunter but I'm not sure I can be arsed setting up more with a different email address each time.

Yes, but using the same email address. Gmail addresses work with a dot at any point in the but before the @

So, if you are:

email@gmail.com

You are also

e.mail@gmail.com

em.ail@gmail.com

ema.il@gmail.com

Etc.

I have credit in my UK account and switching regions wipes it.

OK. So if I want to change the region of my Japanese account, I need to sign in on a browser. I know the password, but I don't know what the Nintendo Network ID is (can't find it anywhere in the Switch settings) and I don't know which email address I've used (it's asterisked out on the Switch). How am I supposed to find out? Was I supposed to write it on a piece of paper? The only recovery options involve providing my email address, which I don't know, because it's not my main account.

Or just myemail+jp@gmail.com, myemail+us@gmail.com, myemail+ru@gmail.com, etc.

Check which email address has all the Nintendo sales spam in it?

Just in case.

Yeah this - you don't need multiple accounts just two.  One for UK and one that you swap regions as you see fit.

Nintendo of Europe manage all the EU stores and also Russia and South Africa so any credit card will work fine (but for best results use one that doesn't charge for currency conversion).  The American and Japanese regions require the use of e shop credit.

Yes, that Gungein is good, nice little game.

I haven’t managed to beat a single boss yet mind you. And the control set up! Sweet Jesus, this is the first game to give me the finger cramps using joycons. Do people also using joycons stick with the standard set up?

Also, how do you use the abilities peculiar to each character? Or do they even do anything? Like with the Hunter you can highlight a tennis ball in your map screen - does it have any purpose?

Some abilities are passive (like the tennis ball probs), iirc it means the dog will dig up hidden items like keys, hearts etc. Other characters have perks like items are cheaper in the shop etc

other items aren’t passive too, like every third bullet you shoot, per clip, will be made of ice or something.  You can check all this out in the Encyclopedia wotsit if you press the - (minus) button.

I immediately changed the controls. I can't remember what the defaults are but I have fire on the bigger right trigger (ZR) and roll on the bigger left (ZL). A to knock over tables, map on R and use item on L.

Never looked back.

Same, plus I use R3 to click and reload. Works great.

Purchased Golf Story last night as it was on sale. Not started it yet, but i'm really looking forward to it.

I need to stop buying all these games on the switch. I don't think I've fully completed any of them yet.

It’s ok. Bit obtuse at times, too much talking too. Some people really like it. I just wish they’d release Mario Golf Advance Tour spruced up instead.

Pleased to seem alternative control configuration suggestions for Gungeon. Will try later.

Dragon Quest Builders arrived in the post today, but I started the rather fantastic Xenoblade 2 a few days ago. Oh, I also have a splatfest this weekend.

No gaming drought with the Switch.

This Bayonetta game looks like something I would enjoy in principle but am I right in thinking it wouldn't be the most appropriate thing for a five year old to be witnessing. Please bear in mind that he's slowly ploughing his way through zelda and is not fazed by the challenges involved within it.

Definitely unsuitable for a 5 year old. Not just the violence but sexual imagery.
