I realise not everyone plays exclusively in handheld mode and given the likelihood of my buying COD is practically zero, this won't affect me but adding motion controls to the only version of the game that can be played portably seems like a bullet straight to the foot (in the boot, on the ground).

Splatoon is fine with portable motion control.

Cross platform will be off the table though, the Switch players would be far more accurate at aiming.

They just need to keep any new Ridge simple. Concentrate on great track designs, cool eye candy, great tunes and almost as importantly, online leaderboards and multiplayer races. Tbh, even if they just updated Ridge 3D and gave it online leaderboards I'd be happy. The brand is solid gold, just put a passionate team on it, along with the required financial backing.

For some extra info: the BN Singapore studio is made up of a mixture of American, Chinese and Japanese developers. Quite a few of whom worked on LucasArts titles back in the day such as the defunct Star Wars 1313.

Hopefully they're not flogged to death on a daily basis like the rest of the creative industry in Singapore.

And, to coincide with the last of my gold Nintendo points expiring because there's never fucking anything to buy with them:

Nintendo announced today that starting in March, you can pay for games on the Switch eShop using Gold Points.

I haven’t the faintest what Gold Points are, or how to earn them. I like free things, though.

When you buy stuff on the eShop or register your physical purchases, you get Gold Coins. With them, you can sometimes get money off games on the eShop (which are cheaper to buy elsewhere without the money off) that you no doubt already own.

This is actually pretty decent and really surprising from the greediest most fiscally conservative company in the industry. Apparently, though, you're going to get significantly better value for your purchases when the scheme starts compared to the coins you've been rewarded with for registering your games previously, so best hold off registering physical games until March, I think.

The new coins/points conversion is actually very decent. £40 will be worth 200 points now (5%), which will be £2 off your next purchase, and about 3 times what you get now. I’ve managed to rack up 1200 points in the last year (not including the points that have expired!), so will get £12 off when it launches. It would be closer to £40 off with the new scheme though.

Got Snipperclips Plus in the mail today. Looking forward to some co-op later this evening! :D

Christ no. My wife and I almost came to blows after 20 minutes. It was agreed that we would never speak of the Snipperclips again in our house.

The trend these last few years seems to have been to somehow forget what made the game great and miss a golden opportunity to make easy money. Ridge Racer on the Switch would be a no-brainer, a perfect fit. And they wouldn't need to reinvent the (steering) wheel either.

1200 *gold* points? How?!

I've had maybe 300 in total, and it includes games bought on the 3DS and Wii U!

EDIT: OK, so assuming your average bought game is £15, and you only bought them digitally (where they're worth more), you'd have to buy EIGHTY games to rack up 1200 gold coins.  Jesus.

Is there anywhere like Storeparser for Switch?

Try as I might I can never find the sales each week. That's if Nintendo ever do sales mind.

I have an android app called DailySwitch, some guy on ERA made it but it's pretty good, it includes a news skimmer for Switch news stories, all EU and US sales and upcoming release dates. No idea if it's on iOS.
