It’s got a kind of Monster Hunter vibe to it where you need to grind missions to get specific drops to upgrade items, and I found the combination of the fairly simple moment-to-moment gameplay and wider upgrade structure to be quite satisfying.

I just purchased Tachyon Project from the store as I love a good dual stick shooter and haven’t got a decent one for the switch.

 

This isn’t it. The frame rate is really jerky undocked and docked - like, unplayable jerky.

Doesn't really matter. Whichever one you buy will be the best game you've bought in your entire life.

I’ve got Gungeon, but not really had a chance to have a decent go yet. I’m after something that scratches that Geo Wars itch, so do I go for  Jydge, or Bleed, or Neurovoider...? Are they all dual-stick shooters?

There's nothing quite akin to Geometry Wars just yet (nothing good). Jydge and Neon Chrome are the best twin stick examples at the moment but neither is like GW. They're mission based, with purchasable power ups, etc. That's where the similarities end. They're both top down futuristic shooters, objective-based, both made by the same team I believe and they're basically the same game twice. Don't buy both.

 

Neurovoider is a roguelike, fun, but no progression, really. Bleed is more run and gun with a triple dash jump and the ability to slow time. It's really really good fun but pretty short and a little bit 'cheap' looking, just to be honest. It's as fun as Jydge but without the same variety and longevity/content.

@Hardbattle Tachyon Project couldn't look more Geometry Wars if it tried.  Not played it myself, but NintendoLife gave it 6/10 and they're pretty generous with their review scores.

 

edit: D'oh!  Just saw your post saying you'd already picked up Tachyon Proj.

Graceful Explosion Machine is a great shooter on the switch. Not a twin sticker like Geometrey Wars but I’d recommend it

Is Lego City Undercover really as bad as what people are saying when undocked? I can see it's pretty close to the PS4/XB1 when docked apart from it's locked at 30fps which doesn't bother me so much.

Yes, but not for long. Apart from being on a smaller screen, I didn't notice any difference.

 

But then I don't have a HD TV so...
