SozzlyJoe
Haha, nothing says portable like 'needs its own dedicated backpack'. It's not a bad looking thing, but seems OTT.

Chosty
Is there a way to add profile-specific time limits on the Switch? All I've been able to do so far is add a blanket time limit for the whole console, which means one of my kids could play for ages then no one else have any time unless I disable parental controls. Ideally I'd like to be able to apply an age-appropriate time limit to each profile.
Retroguy
Just turned on my switch today, and the right joycon isn’t showing up as attached, despite definitely being clicked in place. Anyone else had this and know how to fix it?
Retroguy
And now I just tried to disconnect the controllers so it can find the right one again, and it can’t at all, so now I can’t play the console at all I’m about 40 hours into Xenoblade Chronicles 2 now, there’s no way I can face going through all that again- is there no chance to get my saves back if Nintendo need the console back to fix it? R0b
Can you marry a third party controller, or Pro, to it? Assuming you'd like one at some point anyway, you'd keep it for your future Switch and it'd get you through XC2 before the save-killing repair...
Retroguy
Yeah that’s my fallback- I actually just managed to get it recognise the right joycon by pressing the sync button on the side of it, then reattaching it. For some reason, it picked it up straight away? Think that’s unlikely to have cured it long term though, twinned with the battery issues I’ve been having. There’s definitely something not right with it but hopefully I can get to the end of XC 2 first. I’ll lose all my zelda progress though :/ I’m guessing Nintendo don’t copy your saves for you if they need to replace the console?

It is possible to transfer data from one Switch to the other so you'd hope they'd do that for you. My Switch is currently with them for repair so I can let you know what happens with my save games when I get it back.

Buy another on Amazon, transfer your profile onto it and send yours to Nintendo. When it comes back transfer your profile back onto it and return Amazon’s Switch to them. I’m hoping I can get to the end of XC2 first then maybe try something like this. If it’s really that easy to transfer saves though, Nintendo should be doing it themselves, surely? Thanks for all the suggestions though guys.

Santas Boyfriend
I had my Switch repaired last August. I lost all my save data. I haven’t played the Zelda DLC or gone back to Splatoon 2 etc You can transfer a profile to another console - deactivate on the first console, activate on the new one - but that doesn’t include your saved games. AFAIK there is no way for you to move them from the internal storage on your Switch. Nintendo apparently have tools to move saved games but, unfortunately, they didn’t (or couldn’t) do that when I sent my Switch in for repair. That’s crap mate, you have my sympathies don’t think I could make myself replay that much of games like those either, it’d be a bit soul destroying! So you can’t transfer saved data yourself, and there’s a good chance Nintendo won’t be able to either, or simply won’t do it?? Considering this isn’t like a one in a million situation, that’s terrible. Not sure what’ll I’ll do if I have to send the console back- might seriously consider getting my money back. Great if you have one that runs fine, but even the slightest chance that you’ll have to send it back, thus losing all your saves....that makes my skin crawl EDIT: according to nintendo, you can transfer your saves from one switch to another (as well as user data), so at least that’s a little better. Still not great though if Nintendo aren’t doing that every time (unless the issue totally prevents them).

Now it just needs save game backups and/or cloud saves In my case the console stopped booting to the home screen, getting stuck at the Switch logo. So by that point I was unable to do anything that involved using the Switch itself to transfer data anywhere else. It would have been great if I’d been able to activate my account on a new or repaired machine and get my save data on there too without needing the original machine. But if you have a console that boots - and another console to transfer to - transfering would at least be a way of keeping your data.
