Prime Video already has a number of shows in the works with Clarkson, which are going to go ahead, but the decision effectively means that “Clarkson’s Farm” will end with Season 3 (expected in 2024). It also means that motoring format “The Grand Tour,” one of Prime Video’s biggest shows, will also come to an end. Varietyunderstands the series will conclude after four more special episodes — the last of which is expected to land in late 2024.

It sound more like a ‘not renewing his contract’ deal so whatever is currently being filmed will be finished but nothing after that.

It is a blessing, removing one of the biggest Tory climate denying shits from our screens.

Sure he now says climate issues "are happening" but he's doing that to make sure he stays popular.

I can't help thinking that the end of 2024 is a long time off and people have short memories. You wonder if GT will be replaced with something similar or actually just renewed. If it's making money for Amazon, I can't see them ditching it completely.

Saying that, I've felt like they've run out of ideas. Baring an accident or two, the last couple of specials have been boringly predicable and the old "it's not just Too Gear in a crap disguise" format just wasn't very good. Actual Top Gear is miles better. So maybe it needs to go, either way.

It's clear that they were running out of ideas before Clarkson managed to get them kicked off Top Gear.  The train carriage thing (not the one that got them fired, the caravan on a train line one) was desperately poor.  The very best of the three of them was just watching three mates mucking about in cars that were relatable. The next best was when they were explaining why they love or hate a car.  Instead we ended up with an endless series of Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Aston Martins that justified their screen time by having bits taken out of previously seen cars, calling them "Superlight" and costing more than their average viewer earned in a decade being taken to places to become beatifully shot backgrounds to three idiots cocking about.

They took those worst excesses and took them to Amazon, where they had a huge budget that they had no idea to spend except on explosions and guns, only the lack of a 21 year old girlfriend stopping it becoming totally Middle Aged Crisis Gear.  No sense of joy in their jobs, no sense of fun in being together on an adventure, instead a bunch of badly-acted surprise reactions to mean-spirited pranks and destroying stuff because they didn't have to pay for it  You just ended up with the feeling that these three men were absolute morons, and how the hell did they ever get their jobs?

Bit harsh on May, but otherwise fair assessment.

If anyone wants a new car series try Car Trek on YouTube.  Reasonable budget and mildly entertaining.  Certainly better than the us top gear.

Late brake show and Tyrrell's classic workshop are where I get my car kicks on youtube. Both excellent. Harry's garage was good, but seems to have gone downhill / got stale recently.

That's a whole new conspiracy theory around the Hammond crash.

"Big Clarky made me do it, he stuck a spanner in the engine bits, sniff"

"Spared", a new Autobiography coming soon.
