/snip The Chronicles of Riddick to come to XB1 BC. That would make me real happy

It looked incredible - fuck me - fourteen years ago. Riddick would look bonkers good cleaned up to 4K.

Yes but I was talking about the 360 HD re-release which includes both the original game and its sequel/expansion Assault on Dark Athena, and came out in 2009. It should look even better in 4k :)

Edit: although thinking about it - OG Xbox releases on BC are rendered at 4k by default. For 360 games they have to specifically receive an enhanced patch. I wonder what would look better - the original game running at 4k with all the additional BC enhancements, or the 360 version running at its original resolution with all the BC enhancements?

Looking at OG Xbox games like Ninja Gaiden Black running on an Xbox One X, and considering Riddick was one of the most visually impressive games of its generation alongside the likes of Ninja Gaiden, I suspect the original would look better in that scenario. We'd miss out on the expansion though.

Edit edit: apart from the visuals, the game itself was excellent. Replaying it in 2009 on the 360 it was still as good as ever. It would be a great fit for BC since it has aged so well in every regard, not just graphically.

I'm quite happy I don't have an X, considering I've just played through RDR and Undead Nightmare for the first time in the last few weeks. The difference between native 360 and basic One is slight, but the comparisons for the X are rather stunningly good. Not that I have a 4K telly, but I'd still see a lot of benefit moving up to native 1080p, never mind downscaled 4K.

A rather excellent game, too, although the Rockstar open world formula grew a little tired in places.

I bought Riddick (360) about 4 years ago and still haven’t played it... waiting for Xbone compatibility.

Probably be waiting a while...

Could be a rights issue with multiple studios in the mix, who do I need to batter to make this happen?

I didn't realize either of these things and they do not bode well for the game ever coming BC. That's depressing :(

The latest Digital Foundry made me remember that I never gave the Undead Nightmare DLC for RDR much of a chance because of the crappy framerate, which made pulling off zombie headshots a chore. Now it’s a solid 30fps I can actually give it a proper go.

Yeah, so the enhancements to Undead Nightmare make the game much more fun. I remember now: it's a mode when you have hardly an ammo, and zombies take a fuck-tonne of damage before they stay down, unless - crucially - you can score a headshot. Trying to hit a little zombie head as it lurches around when you're somewhere between 25 and 30fps is an exercise in frustration, and why I didn't play it for more than an hour on release.

But in 4K and at a solid 30, it suddenly becomes incredibly satisfying. It's a great example of enhanced BC actually making a game more playable than it was on its initial release.

I also forgot how fun Dead Eye is:

Dead Space is finished.  It took nine years to get the last achievement and without bc I probably wouldn't have gone back.  I thoroughly enjoyed he whole thing from beginning to end and the panic on Impossible difficulty was incredible at times.

The last boss is a letdown though.  It went down surprisingly easily.

I think I might return to Dead Space 2 and 3, which i never finished.

Tried mine about 10 times over the course of the day and again just now and it's still not having it!?!

I had the same problem, fully reboot your xbox (ie close it down by holding the power button on the front of the console until it turns off). Orta is now installing from disk....

I bought it last year from gamersgate when it was a fiver on sale. They still have it for a tenner but it's not steam.

Yup that did the job :).

Maybe I've just got my rose tinted glasses on (I loved ALL the Panzer games) but I honestly can't believe how well this has aged, with it being smooth as anything more and far richer in the colour side of things / more vibrant than I'd remembered (excuse the cack handedly taken phone pic's)....

Amazing work by MS IMO :).
