Chances are that giant dude with the heat issue is probably the first boss you encounter, 22 seconds after starting the game.

Yeah, looks like a tutorial boss in Souls to me.

Looks like a messed up Lordran in the beginning a bit. And assuming that it is Lordran (which it's bound not to be but fuck it, I'm day 1 guessing) I wonder if that giant might be some kind of link from DS2 back to DS1 given how prominently they featured.

Either way, excited. Plus if they do make this the last DS game then I respect that. Knowing it's the final part might mean they pour their heart and soul (pun intended) into it.

After loving Bloodborne this is my most anticipated game right now.

Does the story in Dark Souls continue through each game? I don't think I can be bothered to play the old ones because they look so shitty compared to Bloodborne, so I might just watch some videos to get up to date on the story...

You really should play Dark Souls at the least, if you enjoyed Bloodborne you'll get a lot from that too.

The beauty of Dark Souls is such that even though is clearly low rez and low poly compared to BB, it still looks absolutely amazing. Dark Souls owns the phrase "gorgeous view".

Also if you don't play Dark Souls - exploring the ruins of Anor Londo in DS3 isn't going to be nearly as thrilling, if you don't know what it looked like in its prime.

I really, really hope that is right.

Probably pure wishful thinking on my part but I really want them to do a game which ties the lore from Demon Souls and DS1 and DS2 together, and adds to it, I hope they come up with some grand overarching storyline that's been behind the whole thing all the time.

Actually I've never played Demon Souls - is supposed to be set in the same world as DS 1 and 2?

Actually going from Bloodborne to DeS wasn't as much of a drop as I expected, so I imagine DaS being even less so.

DeS does have some rather ugly areas (mainly the dark swamp type places), but looks pretty impressive in others (the final boss of world 4 for example, or the floor in the Nexus).

Plus the gameplay is broadly the same. I'd go so far as to say that, type of fantasy setting aside, DeS is more BB, for people new to the series.

I am looking forward to this so much. I'm nearing the end of 2 and it's wonderful. I WILL get through Demons after that and probably go back through both several times and then this will be there or thereabouts.

Last in the series though? I guess they want to try different things and I have every confidence that whatever it is, it will be great.

I love From Software.

The reveal trailer was fantastic.

With Xbox BC I need to find my Dark Souls disc and actually play it this time rather than give up at the beginning as it was too hard..

I'm playing through DaS on PC after absolutely falling in love with BB, early days but for me the combat isn't anywhere near as refined as BB, still feels quite clunky. I had the same issue with DeS when I attempted that years ago. Has a lovely sense of scale mind, much moreso than BB.

What sort of character are you playing as petrolgirls? I am playing as a Royal in ultra light leather armour, meaning I can roll about quickly. It's not quite as fluid as BB, but not a milion miles away. All the parrying and backstab stuff is in there, and even easier to pull off in DeS. I had to really keep reminding myself to use the shield as I was basically playing it the same as BB.

Can't compare to DaS as haven't started it yet.

I'm playing as a Wanderer which I read was the closest build to Bloodborne. I also played as a Royal in DeS years back but just didn't get on with it - I blame coming to it after Bayonetta.
