If I had recieved that response from Sony I'd be livid.

It's a passive aggressive apology that's not an apology (the sub text is "ok, you might not be a thief, just incompetent") and a "refund" that isn't a refund.

This issue has been instrumental in me not buying the new Destiny DLC and it's looking more likely I'll switch to the 'bone in the future.

Oh, it gets worse. This issue last cropped up in April, similar story: account hacked, wouldn't refund, chargeback through bank, account banned. When The Register asked Sony what the fuck was going on, they gave this unbelievably slimy, passive aggressive non-apology:

A Sony spokesman told The Register: "We do insist (an obligation outlined in our Terms of Service) that the SEN account holder is responsible for all activity and transactions made on their account – due to the nature of digital content, in that it is made available immediately and cannot be returned. We need to insist that the account holder take full responsibility for their account security."

"To do otherwise would create an opportunity for consumers to claim that they were not responsible for a purchase on their account, receive a refund and yet retain the content," continued the spokesman.

"If the reported unauthorised transactions were made on a console other than the one owned by the account holder, the person responsible must have had details of the account sign-in ID and password," he added.

"We wouldn't speculate on where this information was obtained, but we can state that our own database has not been compromised; whether the account holder willingly gave their details to a friend/acquaintance or were tricked into providing them via phishing sites or similar, the responsibility for keeping this information secure does lie with the account holder, as previously outlined."

There must be some kind of consumer law they're breaking here, there has to be.

Is the PS3 affected by this too?

Great work Pockets.

This sea-change in good will towards Sony is incredible. Could be exactly what Microsoft needs this generation.

Well it's still using PSN, so yes, just use credit to buy games etc...

If anyone hasn't yet...

Just buy a fucking Xbox you idiots. Don't worry, I'll forgive you for your misguided stupidity. Plus, I'll have more people on my friends list.

*joke post dudes, before anyone gets upset. It's almost too easy. I love you all really.

Anyway, can we have Pockets name changed to Pocket Hero. Thanks mods, you did good this night.

Has Jon deleted his Twitter? Sad, I was going to give him some friendly advice.

Me? Twitter? Huh?

What's with the whole medieval setting thing? Is this really what the BBC has been reduced to in order to hold people's attention?

They started off with a proper PS4 ad which was in that setting, walked into it and carried it on throughout the segment. I thought it was really well done to be honest, not what I was expecting at all.

With that kind of in-depth investigation I can only conclude that you are actually Anne Robinson (or whatever her reporter monkey was called).

I tell you what though, that Bloodborne is pretty photo-realistic isn't it?

Great work Pockets. Good on Watchdog for giving it such a prominent position, but what the fuck with that final line "sounds like one of those daft story lines from one of those games they sell". Such a shame that mainstream media always feels the need to sneer a little when covering anything related to gaming.

That twitter find (and subsequent backpedaling) is priceless. Nice one, dominorail!

I thought the BBC and Mr Pockets did a pretty good job, all things considered. If there aren't at least a few thousand credit cards removed from PSN accounts by tomorrow, I'll be surprised. And all for £40. Sony, you plonker!

Kinect-less version out yet?

Just need the mainstream gaming sites to keep asking if they've sorted account security yet or stopped treating hacked account holder like shit every 3 months or so and Sony might change their policies for good!

If anyone still hasn't, please remove your credit card from your PS4. I wouldn't use PayPal either.

Just use credit bought from CDKeys etc...

This is exactly what I'm doing and sharpish. Will make sure my brother in law does the same.

I just checked my account, and I have no default payment method. Would it be safe to add funds with Paypal then?

OK, here's a direct recording of Watchdog. If someone with the keys to the Youtube channel would do the honours!

Why are people just staring at things in the background at the end? That must be so awkward...

Anyway, amazing work Pockets! I've admittedly had pretty good service from Sony but that doesn't really change a thing, especially the stuff about banning peoples accounts, that's just terrible!
