You don't miss what you never had, I suppose. When I tried my original Gameboy for the first time since the early 90s I thought the screen had gone bad but no, they were just like that.

So I was feeling a bit decadent and fed up (dangerous combo) and so bought ten random Japanese original gameboy games for my analogue pocket. £2 each. No idea what they are, and realise this has no redeeming features, but I love the cart art.

Those are, by row:

Spoiler

F-1 Race, SaGa, SaGa 2, Shikakei Atama o Kore Kusuru(?)

Seiken Densetsu, Ranma 1/2: Netsuretsu Kakutōhen, Family Jockey 2, Yakuman

Momotarō Densetsu Gaiden, Baseball Kids

F-1 Race appears to be identical to the western release in games content.

SaGa and SaGa 2 were called Final Fantasy Legend and Final Fantasy Legend II respectively in the west.

Seiken Densetsu was called Final Fantasy Adventure in North America and Mystic Quest in Europe, and its sequel was Secret of Mana.

Shikakei Atama o Kore Kusuru (name likely wrong) is part of an obscure Japanese series that has almost no English language documentation online.

Ranma 1/2: Netsuretsu Kakutōhen is a JRPG based on an anime and manga series.

Family Jockey 2 is one of those impenetrable Japanese horse-racing/betting games.

Yakuman was a Game Boy launch title in Japan, featuring simplified mahjong.

Momotarō Densetsu Gaiden is a JRPG, part of a series which Hudson Soft based on Japanese folklore.

Baseball Kids was shrunken-down conversion of NES game Bases Loaded (and kept the Bases Loaded title in the west).

That one with the weird title is part of an educational series, the one you’ve got there is ‘maths’ (well, arithmetic) but there are others, like social studies etc.

Looks like the square and circle are part of the official title - here’s a paperback version lol

Looks like a lot of fun.

Felt to list some Game Boy gem picks:

Jurassic Park Part 2: The Chaos Continues

Bubble Bobble Part 2

Tiny Toon Adventures 2: Montana's Movie Madness

Dexterity

Tetris Blast

Amazing Penguin

Adventure Island II: Aliens in Paradise

Solomon's Club

Choplifter II

Brain Drain

Amazing Penguin stood out to me in particular. A rather simple overhead action game where you do your best to bump around to reveal tiles while dodging enemies. Could use some more variety, but I liked it for what it was.

Earlier I had an overwhelming memory of sitting in the school library with my pals playing a brilliant game called Ninja Cop on my badly modified gold GBA so thought I best head to ebay to see if I could find a copy.

Yeah, maybe not then.

Fuck off is that the going price? I think my brother's still got that

Wow!

Not surprised. That was getting really expensive about thirteen years ago. Great game, possibly not that great.

Yeah, maybe not then.

I remember this being talked about in hushed tones even 10-15 yrs ago in terms of its quality and rarity, think I'll add it to my RG351 setup.

Nice, before I do have you used this site before and do you know how much shipping is. Can't check myself right this time.

I ordered an N8 Fami a while back and shipping came to 8 dollars. They ship from Ukraine so expect to wait a while for delivery.

Edit: My Turbo Everdrive I ordered directly from Krikzz' site was the same for shipping, so I guess it's a flat rate for everything.

I’ve bought quite a few carts from them, yeah. Nothing post Russian invasion, but I believe you will still get your stuff.

Got a GB Color, boots up after doing the blowing the slot trick. But buttons do no work namely a and b, d-pad works fine but not sure if its a goner or can be fixed?

EDIT:Fixed it, buttons work perfectly after using isopropyl alcohol to clean the contacts.

Don’t blow into the cart slot!

slobber on your breath Will corrode the contacts. Get a lens blower or contact cleaner spray.

But it worked:), but on a serious note yeah I did remember someone saying that regarding contacts in old NES cartridges. But old habits die hard.

This is on a DMG, but same should apply , have et it to just about the right start time , also clean the contacts, that can be seen in the 1st half hour of the video.
