I'm really enjoy A Brief History of Time, partly because of the wonderfully breathy soft-porn style reading!

It's just a shame that whenever Stephen Hawking veers into personal anecdote (thankfully rarely) he comes across as such a dick.

The narration of Orwell's Down and Out in Paris and London is superb, and in that sale.

Most of the value tends to be in the classics in those sales, but agreed, even there it is a little slight. Still, i picked up Zola's amazing Therese Raquin narrated by Kate Winslet, Orwell's Burmese Days (a personal favourite) and a Jeeves collection, so not bad in 3 for 2.

Incidentally, I’m just on to volume 2 of Tolstoy’s War & Peace, this has so far been a perfect narration by Neville Jason, who I’d not heard before.

This version is two separate 30 hour books - I noticed there is a single volume that clocks in at 61 hours that would save you a credit, but it’s read by someone else. This read has been more than worth the two credits they cost.

Any recommendations for the black Friday sale stuff?

I’ve don’t that thing again where I just hoard my credits as I never know what to spend them on. I want to get the Brett Anderson books but feel is a waste of credits as they’re so short!

I just polished off Burmese Days by George Orwell, absolutely superb narration by Allan Corduner, capturing the varied cast of desperate characters wonderfully.

Curiously, at one point I very fairly heard the sound of a police siren going past, he must have recorded it in his back bedroom or something.

Okay this has probably been covered somewhere but right now I'm paying £7.99 a month and getting 1 credit. I can buy 3 credits for £18 (£6 each). What's to stop me buying 12 credits and then stopping the monthly? Do I lose all my credits? Is there a catch?

How does one do this? Can't see it on the Audible site??

Edit: found it, only if you're already an active member. Makes sense.

Yep, as soon as you go to leave you're then told that you'll lose all remaining credits. I was going to cancel at the end of the month to get a cheaper rate and ended up buying Underland, The Future Starts Here, The Uninhabitable Earth and I,Robot. Didn't cancel in the end as I'm just waiting to see if there's any decent post-xmas sales.
