Disappointing, only 3 out of 13 PS4 players have completed this event so far.

Not sure if it's related but I settled down for the Rllmuk Rally yesterday on Xbox One & it said Tace Net was unavailable so I could not attempt it.

Could be down for PS4 players too?

Not good with RaceNet.  Quite a few people have been able to set times though so it must be intermittent:

This is all getting very competitive at the top!  As always, please let me know either by PM or on the forum if you set your time today.  I'd appreciate it if you don't leave it too late as well, before 9pm would be good (RaceNet permitting) :)

Four bloody seconds! All lost on the final stage when I clipped a stone on the outside that span me round. Manual downshifting to reverse takes forever!

Enjoyable rally for the most part although some of those tight bend sequences are a bit bonkers. I felt like I needed to explore the tuning on this one as the car was a bit lively for my liking over crests and through some sharper bends. As usual though I couldn't be arsed!

Sometimes I think I'm driving well, and then I really start getting the car sliding between corners and realise there is loads more time to find with a bit more aggression on the wheel. The fear of messing up a stage makes this as much about outright speed as it does bravery though.

I've had loads of issues with RaceNet this week but I've always got on. Keep clicking on the League button and after 5-6 attempts it logs me on. Once I've logged onto the league I then can get onto 'Online' (which may also take 5-6 attempts).

Downshifting after coming to a stop is agonisingly slow, I wonder if it's the same for those using wheels and paddles.

As for tuning, I've been running on default for the past three rallies but the Delta in Wales is a bit too lively for my liking, I'm bouncing all over the place. I might have a play softening the suspension to see it that helps.

racenet is dreadful at the moment. it's refusing my connection? not logging my times, which means i now have to do the first 2 stages again. it's putting me in an infinite loop of error messages in the leaderboards instead of just giving me an option of going back and making me have to quit the game and load it again.

going out soon so doubt i'll be setting a time.

edit: but now i've done the first stage again in a frustrated manner, damaged my car and finished 20 seconds off my first time on it - it uploads the result! will see if it continues to upload

- nah it just fucked me again, I give up :(

Current standings:

DR Champ 1, Event 3.4.PNG

Anyone who's started but hasn't finished I've put as a DNF as a placeholder.  I'll correct this if they finish the rally tonight.

I've got 2 stages to go for this week. Watching the Hillsborough doc now though, so I'll do them after 11 and post my times here.

Hope that's OK, fine if I get a dnf, my fault for leaving it to Sunday evening to finish.

Ok no probs sharky, might have to settle for a dnf this week. This Hillsborough doc is gutting me, don't think I'm gonna feel like any gaming after seeing this.

in with a v late 31.54.804 for me.

Wanted to do it properly, ran out of time and went for my standard approach :)

It actually worked reasonably well at times, but an unfortunate 13s recovery-from-a-field incident probably cost me a place.

Ok finished all stages, messed up stage 5 big time, stage 6 in the dark could have gone better. Haven't a clue what my total time is because racenet service is not fucking available AGAIN

When you say "share some stretches", what do you mean? The long stages are split into two smaller ones in all countries, so you may have been noticing that?

18 hours ago, SharkyOB said:

Yeah, that's the same for all rallies.  They're made up of two long stages which can be run in either direction, which are then split into two to make the shorter stages. which again can be run in both directions.

Tonight I saw a couple of courses in Germany, both long, that both end with the same stretch of road?

This is in the second set of 6 in the monthly challenge.

I can see your time :) (You were outside the points though).  Turns out it's just DNFs that are an issue, I can still see the overall times for each of the previous rallies on RaceNet, I just can't see the individual stage times anymore.

So here's the final standings from Germany:

DR Champ 1, Event 3.5.PNG

And here's the championship:

DR League Event 3 Standings 3.PNG

Do you think Speech might win it?  Loads of close battles through the field and I still think a top 5 finish is on for late developer Sponge.  Great battle between Karzee and Marmite for top of the console peddlers too.  I'm pretty happy with 5th but I'm not sure I'll stay there.

Racenet screwed me when I had a window yesterday. I'll get on this weeks sooner rather than later.

Well, that sounds like a brilliant idea.  Especially for my Sunday night

Seriously though guys, if any of you leave your runs super late this week the chances are your times won't be registered in the league.  I want to take times from RaceNet, not from a post, in fairness to those who have got their runs in sooner.  I'll be setting up future events to finish earlier on the Sunday too, as I don't want to be checking RaceNet at 11pm just in case last minute times have been set.

Cheers for your efforts on this Sharky.. I know all too well what a ballache running these kind of tournaments can be at times.

Especially with something as cumbersome as Racenet in the mix.

I was pretty close to just leaving it for this round as I knew I'd be late, but I'd had a shit few hours leading up to it and thought I might as well blow off steam on a game somehow. Seems like a good idea for you to set the finish time to one that suits you better, that way everyone has to do it properly or miss out, there's no middle ground. Shame Racenet can't make this easier than it does by combining the format leagues at least.

I did actually make some post-stage notes (including times) but don;t want to post the full report until a few more runs get set. short version - 3 quick clean stages, couple of resets, 3 spins. Suspect the top pace will be about 90 seconds faster.

Yeah sorry about leaving it so late this week, I never meant to but other stuff got in the way. I promise to get it done and dusted before the weekend for Wales.

Thanks again for doing all the spadework.

No probs man, there were a few more late times this week than there have been previously so I want to nip it in the bud before the weekend.  The problem with the final week of the championship is that after midnight on Sunday the times disappear completely and only the points are displayed.  There's no way to prove who got what times if I miss them on Sunday night.  I don't want to be in a situation where there's a really fast time posted on the forum with no way to verify it.

Wales is FUN!

few too many mistakes leaves me with 41:35.904

Really enjoyed that set, though! Mainly because I could use the Escort which is my current Championship car.

just finished my run, was thinking about going for it to try and catch up with Karzee and Marmite in the standings but pretty sure that would have been a disaster, so took it quite steady and it actually went to plan this time with only 1 minor mishap on the last stage. so pretty boring and not much to report.

OK then, proper post-run report.

Stage 1: Didn't make a note on this, but it felt pretty good and flowed well. 6:39.217

Stage 2: 1 reset, the in the penultimate sector (the jump before the hairpin right - I know I;m usually way to conservative into it - braking over the crest and trickling the following 100m into the turn, so decided to McRae* it. Didn't land on the road and got reset just before hitting a course vehicle) otherwise quick, 6:45.750

Stage 3: messy. no actual spins or resets, but quite a few points where a bulding loss of control had to be arrested by almost stopping the car. 3:38.191

Stage 4: I marked this as "not bad" and according to the times, spatular only beat it by a second. 3:07.942

Stage 5: another one i noted as "not bad" though spat beat my time by 9 seconds. 6:46.117

Stage 6: and here it all went a bit wrong. 2 1/2 spins and a reset, lost lots of time (though surprised to only lose 20s on spatular's time) 7:07.110

I do so love the Delta. it's testament to the game that the differing personalities of the cars really shine through - and that, even trough a pad, the sheer "feel" of the game is immense - I just know where each wheel is, and what the car's trying to tell me. I've been playing (on and off) since launch and there's just such depth to the handling.

I find myself very excited for the future of the franchise. I think codies have said that they're done with the game now (in terms of new content) and have moved the team on to Dirt4 proper. no more content is a shame as I'd happily pay for another rally (actually, while i'm daydreaming, a Safari pack with new ruggedised versions of the 90s cars woukld be amazing) or more cars (Toyota are noticeably absent).

*If in doubt, Flat Out
