Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

I think people forget the first game was getting the cold shoulder before release. It wasn't until the E3 demo leaked and you could play detroit almost in its entirety that buzz started to appear. I am looking forward to mankind divided, but I want to go in blind.

I don't like Jensen's new model. His face looks weird.

My missus is with you on that - she really liked the 'old Jensen' and doesn't like the look of this guy. I think he looks a little more realistically careworn, like he's been through an ordeal or three.

NichBoy played through a couple of sections with producer Olivier Proulx:

I was a huge fan of the last game but for some reason wasn't that excited by this. It's looking better and better by the day now though, can't wait.

Nobody every thinks to check the other vents when that happens, or climb in and deal with you themselves.

"He went into this duct five minutes ago and hasn't come out, guess he could be anywhere in the building."

The guards in these games could learn a lot from Alien Isolation.

That is true. The AI is really basic. Everything is set to give an advantage to the player, there is no logic behind guard set up or how a place is protected. All counter measures are set for Jensen to bypass and not to actually protect the place he is supposed to infiltrate.

If that makes any kind of sense. :P

Wasn't there something in the last one with electrifying or smoking out the vents? Or even just shooting into them? Maybe it was another game entirely but I have a vague recollection of something like that happening in the "market place" type area where there were vents that went up through floors too after the cops turned up when something went wrong(TM).

I might have been mixing it up with something else, or totally imagining the whole thing :P

I just replayed the Director's cut on WiiU a few weeks back and this doesn't ring a bell - some vents I think may have been electrified, because resistance was one of the Praxis upgrades, but that more of a puzzle element.

May have even been only in the bonus level that the actual vents were electrified - I can think of one specific area - most of the other places were in locations where you could use crates and the like as stepping stones. In the bonus level, you're stripped of your augs to begin with, and have to start building up again, so your choices block off some routes.

Similarly for gas - most of that was in larger areas; don't recall it being used in vents.

Now, when the bad guys turn up at the Athena(?) Apartments in lower Hengsha, there're places where they might spot you and shoot at you through vents (in the dryer room). There are vents that do go between floors, avoiding much of the combat - it's one big environment - and the shower area is electrified.

Must have been a combo of the two, I think it was the Athena Apartments bit I was thinking of, was there a bloke in there that you had to quiz/ save and then it all kicked off or something? Really can't remember it that well, maybe I should do a re-run...

I'm sure I had to get out of the vents and they weren't as fool-proof a hiding/ escape route like in other stealth games that had gone before it though, must have just been from the shooting.

Anywhere where there are those extra, non-moving vents with horizontal slots are areas where you can be spotted, as well as in the vent entrances.

They might also be able to hear you - I can't recall.

Bit late, but yeah, the dutch hacker, who asks you for a weapon to help him make it out alive. Your chat is interrupted by the arrival of Belltower goons looking for him with extreme prejudice.
