This is why I love Deus Ex. HUMAN REVOLUTION SPOILER :

I didn't even know there was a cutscene of Faridah being executed in Human Revolution until yesterday and I played that game FOUR times.

Re. the HR spoiler:

Spoiler

What? When? I don't remember her dying?! Is this when you have to protect her after the chopper crash (and so is preventable), or another time?

Apparently, if you go to Koller, depending on the outcome of how you deal wit the dvali, he'll be found slumped dead in his chair with a bullet through his head with a sign saying 'we had a deal' or something to that effect or be alive and well. I never thought to check on him during my first playthrough but luckily kept a manual save in that area so I'll see what happens. I don't want cyber prince to die :(

Also I never encountered Radich at all during my first playthrough which I thought was stramge as he appears on the loading screens. Even though I took my time I've missed tons of stuff.

I've literally just made the same grim discovery on my second playthrough. :( The amount of stuff hidden away that most players will never see is incredible.

But! (Prague in rain spoilers)

Spoiler

I even did everything that Otar wanted. I thought that would have let Koller off the hook? I let Louis Gallois live though and told him to disappear, rather than killing him. Maybe that affects things.

Faridah died on my first play of HR.

I found

her body in Tong's chop-shop once. After that, she never died in one of my playthroughs. Ever. Even the no fatality run.

But I don't recall ever leaving her to be executed in this way - most times, she died in the chopper because I didn't distract enough of the attackers in time.

Just finished this. Really enjoyed it, despite the creaky engine breaking the sense of immersion on PS4 occasionally.

Have a question regarding the ending:

Spoiler

I chose to go directly to deal with Marchenko before the delegates. I managed to neutralise him but it was too late to save the delegates and they'd all been poisoned when I got there. I did save Miller though, even though I thought he was a bit of an arse generally!

The Human Restoration Act ends up getting passed so I gather I got what was the bad ending? Even though I saved thousands of innocent from being bombed to bits.

Also, that mid credits scene with:

Spoiler

The dodgy doctor revealed to be an illuminati plant looks like a very obvious setup for some future dlc. Some people have speculated online that Janus is actually Megan Reed which would be interesting but a kind of obvious "twist" at the same time.

Finished this earlier. First time in the thread. I thought two of the missions were very memorable, the game mechanics and level design were top notch, but the overall plot arc was pretty dull and the finale was anticlimatic. The way the trailer sold it I was expecting a full on aug V meat war going on everywhere.

I still think of Janus as having the first name 'Hugh'. Because I'm a big kid.

Cracked up earlier when Jensen got his tranquilizer rifle out to fire around a corner, while hiding - 'look at the size of that thing', the missus said...

In Jensen's apartment there's a floor compartment to the side of the bed with a note from the Collective in it, along with a picture of locations in prague. I've been to a few of them and found fuck all - anyone know what the purpose of the picture is?

Also I just found my office in TF29, and on the white board next to my desk there's 'AUG SITS HERE' and an arrow pointing to my chair. I bet that was Mac, the cunt :(

Once a cop... I seem to be working a murder case. For who I believe is the local cat lady. I think I now know who's behind it, having stumbled upon his playpen before.

Ohoh! The plot thickens. Red herrings and plot twists abound.

It's a copycat. And my new suspect is somewhat more ironic than my first.

First real largeish mission I've gone to was the bank. I heard something about corporate vaults and in the spirit of completionism, went off to look for them.

I'm now stuck at the bottom of a massive trench where the vaults are, and don't even have any keycards to activate them! YAY

Uhhh it's 4am. Okay this game's quite good. Best get some kip.

Apparently this hasn't sold that great and is down on Human Revolution overall.

I really hope this doesn't affect future entries, though apparently another team is working on the next game in tandem so it might even be here in the next year or two.

Rumour is Mankind Divided was supposed to be a much bigger game but it's been halves Sonic 3 & Knuckles style, which is quite bizarre seeing as there's a Sonic & Knuckles easter egg in it. illuminate/tinfoil hat at the ready!

A real shame about these stories of mismanagement behind the scenes. The main game is excellent and deserves every success, something it would no doubt have gotten if it hadn't had bits chopped off it for pre-order/dlc/micro-transactions, etc., and the accompanying bad press they bring. FWIW I'm quite enjoying Breach in its own way, enough to have completed all the tier 1 levels anyway. It's DX's version of the chalice dungeons - distilled arcade gameplay that didn't need to be included but acts as a nice chaser to the main game. Except I guess the problem here is that resources spent on Breach could have been spent on say two more side missions in Prague which, judging from the quality of the side missions already available, would have been brilliant.

I didn't even realise there were micro-transactions until 75% of my way through the game. They are literally useless - the main game itself throws praxis kits and credits at you like no tomorrow. That's no excuse for them being included at all though.

In game: there are some great optional conversations you can have with MacCready. :)

Ha, didn't realise you could do that. Makes it worth a quick replay tonight. I took the more... Harsin approach.

Minor halfway spoilers:

Spoiler

I tried replaying GARM as a straight up shooter and you know what? It bloody well works. Amazing time was had, taking out cameras, controlling turrets, hiding behind cover and shooting, it played like a lost Goldeneye level.

Apparently the new DLC takes place in one of those Palisade Blades - if it plays anything like the bank heist then I'll be very happy.

Loved it, you can tell the team worked hard on the game and credits due to the game makers and designers!

If you have completed the game -

Spoiler

But my god it's left wide open at the end. Just so many questions, about Janus, manderly, the group sat round the table during the end credits. The psychologist, how she comes into it, how and why they are using jensen, man the list is endless. Great game though :)

Question though..

Is it ever confirmed he sells you out? Does he explicitly state it?  I had him pegged as a good guy stuck between a rock and a hard place, not a bad guy working for the Illuminati.

I think Miller must get in touch with Chikane, who then alerts the base you are still alive. I believe both Miller and Macready are clean, against all the odds.

If you break into Chikane's room and hack his laptop, there's an email titled 'Trouble's Coming' from 'Elanus Caeruelus' (Elias Chikane) to an 'OldBlueEye' (blatantly Marchenko) that says 'ETA 4 Hours - Be Ready' - also he's skint / tight as fuck and would need the money for selling out Jensen, not to mention he don't like Augs anyway.

Could be totally wrong but...a good conspiracy theory is why I like Deus Ex.

This is really, really excellent. I've spent hours on this side mission in the bank. Just raiding the vaults as we speak :hat:

I loved that bit, even though it highlights the weirdest part of this series. Jensen infiltrates a bank to find evidence against a corrupt manager, and while there decides to completely clean out every vault and safe in the building. :)

Part of me would like to see more consequences to doing stuff like that, as there's really no mechanical reason not to be a thieving bastard all the time. At the same time it would be a shame to miss out on all that stuff.

I'm hoping later on in the game, something happens like in the Detroit PD- you either see them scrambling to cover up evidence of the break-in, or maybe being open about it and imposing draconian new security measures in response. Or the people of Task Force 29 getting paranoid about people reading their emails / stealing their Whisky.
