Titanfall 2

I love TF2 as evidenced in this thread all the time  but I can’t get on with Alex, I think it’s the TTK that is most off putting rather than than the mobility or that it’s a BR as I have a full on Fortnite addiction!

I really hope we get a TF3 as I wouldn’t say Apex is anything like this in MP and only comparison is assets rather than any shared DNA in the game itself - it’s a shame as really I should love Apex but I just don’t :(

Anyone know how you turn off voice chat on this? My son wants to play multiplayer, but doesn’t want to listen to potential unpleasant nonsense. Googling this is just stuff from years ago, wondering if a feature has been implemented?

He’s currently just playing the game with the sound down which isn’t much fun for a game like this.

It's an Xbox setting rather than a game one. Should be in the main menus. Privacy, then you can change to none or friends only.

Ahhhhh, that’ll be it. Thank you, I never play online so don’t have a clue.

This game is nearly 5 years old and it's still so good. For some reason I didn't quite get to the end of the campaign when I played it originally, and I've been meaning to sort that out for a while. So I restarted the game last night. It looks wonderful on a Series X, and the movement and gunplay feel so lovely. That there may never be a third one of these is a crime against humanity, but I hope that Respawn get to put this amount of effort into an FPS campaign again, as it's right up there with the likes of HL2. So much quality.

Yep, was discussing with a friend recently about how much we played TF2 when it was released - it was our go-to game every night for like 1-2 years.

We also agreed there's been nothing like it since... I get nostalgic thinking about it and it's not even that old.

What a game.

Finally got round to playing (and completing) the campaign of this thanks to Game Pass.

It's incredible isn't it?

Started quite slow, but the moment you get to the time mission it just soars above pretty much any other single player FPS campaign out there.

I could play a whole game of that time level.

Wasn't the factory before the time level? I think in a game full of incredible levels it's one of the best in how dynamic it feels. There's nothing else like it.

Heck, I think I'll install this again, for the 400th time.

Just started this morning after a few nudges in the Xbox thread. Bit cheeky with BT Prime and that voice  but it's bloody good fun. Can't say I'm a fan of some of the wall jumps as they seem a brutal in places but once you get in a titan its awesome.

The Titanfall games have been plagued by hackers for years, and Titanfall 1 has been unplayable as a result. The backstory behind it is surreal, in that one party seems to be hacking Titanfall for fun and another party seems to be hacking Titanfall 2 to protest about the people hacking Titanfall 1, and a third party is hacking everything in sight because they want a cancelled Korean-only F2P spinoff to be resurrected.

I was wondering why every attempt to play this in multiplayer resulted either on unplayable matches or outright crashes. Turns out the server have been hacked and EA just abandoned the MP (pc)?!?

Is this a normal occurrence?

I tried twice over the weekend on Xbox to play online and just ended up in games with a few other players, a 2000ms ping and unable to move.

Spent a while double checking all my internet connection settings, before coming to the conclusion the servers were borked.

In a few years of playing every now and again on PSN and Xbox, it has never happened to me personally before.

After 18 months, I picked this up in the PS sale to get my TF2 multiplayer fix. It's still screwed - matchmaking ends in a server disconnect, and matches, if you can manage to enter one, will almost certainly freeze and then disconnect with "read packet entities failed", both apparently the hallmark of the DDoS attack. Turns out this has been ongoing once again since early December on all platforms.

On the PC, players have created a new client that enables custom, player-hosted servers, so they're good now as they can abandon EA entirely. But if you're on console, and want to play the MP, you're completely out of luck.

It's clear that sweet Apex money is the reason this isn't being fixed - the same DDoS attack was rapidly fixed by EA/Respawn when it was targeting Apex. Utterly awful behaviour from both parties - if you aren't going to fix your game, communicate, be honest, switch off the servers and sell the game as SP only with an upfront message. Instead EA are continuing to bank money from selling a package that's only half what it's claimed to be. Which is exactly what they did with TF, which they've finally stopped selling on PC and are switching off in March 2022.

It’s a real shame for consoles  - it’s probably the best multiplayer game ever, which makes it even harder to swallow

I played it on Series X recently with absolutely no problems online, maybe three weeks ago or so

Not exactly an extensive test, but it worked fine for me - sucks that they don't just fix the damn thing

Wasn't the DDOS some sort of protest about no new Titanfall 3 or something and now they've screwed multiplayer for everyone as a result? Might be misremembering that
