Dumbo live-action remake by Tim Burton

Recommended Posts

"We all know a film isn't a proper film until it's been made in live action. What cartoon should we make into a film?"

"We could do Dumbo. Everyone remembers Dumbo right? Good brand recognition."

"Dumbo it is! Who should we get to direct it?"

"Hey, remember that pink elephants bit? That was so weird and surreal wasn't it?"

"Weird... surreal... Tim Burton does that, right?"

"Yeah!"

"That's it! We'll get Tim Burton!"

"Brilliant idea!"

"Man, we're good at movies aren't we?"

"YES!"

It's also started shooting. Stars Michael Keaton, Eva Green, Danny DeVito, Colin Farrell, Nico Parker, Finley Hobbins, Roshan Seth, DeObia Oparei, Sharon Rooney and Douglas Reith.

Quote

Disney's new live-action feature film Dumbo introduces Holt Farrier (Farrell), a former circus star who finds his life turned upside down when he returns from the war.

Circus owner Max Medici (DeVito) enlists Holt to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus.

But when Holt's children (Parker and Hobbins) discover that Dumbo can fly, persuasive entrepreneur VA Vandevere (Keaton) and an aerial artist named Colette Marchant (Green) swoop in to make the peculiar pachyderm a star.

I'm not sure which war they refer to, or what period it's set in (if not the present) for that matter.

Looks terrible. You can’t improve on perfection

To be honest I think this looks like the best case scenario, I mean he's not fighting evil Dumbo and his emo army or some other shite.

This is a Tim Burton film.

The last time he did a remake for Disney he turned Alice in Wonderland in to a LotR style fantasy epic complete with a mid-2000s standard Prophecy where lines of The Jabberwocky had a direct literal meaning and important bearing on the plot.

I say “he did”, probably the screenwriters at Disney did and he just cranked it out without the slightest interest in what he was making.

(Actually a lot of the Disney reinventions have been pretty good?)

Making fun of Tim Burton for repeating things is like shooting (big) fish in a barrel, but I like Honest Trailers' summary of his filmography:
