Forza Motorsport 6

Dropped by the local supermarket to pick this up this morning. Not having bought a game on release for a while didn't realise that supermarkets no longer seem to do the new release thing. In fact looking through the selection of games in there they were all over 8 months old. Looks they are going cold on games these days. Oh well have to have a quick hunt at lunchtime - failing that I'll just buy digitally.

Edit: Just reserved it at Argos. Same price as digital for a physical copy. Still don't get this... guess they all have to keep to a RRP. Digital should still be fractionally cheaper though.

Actually pondering over going an all digital future as I rarely sell on games and if or by the time I do they are pretty worthless these days anyway. Only thing that slightly puts me off digital with consoles is unlike steam there is no guarantee I'll be able to play them on the next console that comes along*. Quite like playing my older PC games sometimes and the fact they are always in my digital library. I really hope that changes with the Xbox One. Hoping that the platform will be just that from now on in much the same way Steam is or Android, iOS for that matter.

* although same with disks anyway.

I wen digital in part so I didn;t have to do disc-swapping on a game that I;m sure is going to be one of my most-used over the next couple of years.

thought about getting up early to get some time on before work but I was up late last night playing Mad Max, so didn't.

Yeah I was 50/50 on this TBH as I have never sold a single Forza game on... and got a lot of value out of them.

Never mind not so bad. Probably won't have to disk swap much anyway as the only other disk based XBO game I have is Forza Horizon 2 anyway. :D (rest are digital already due to silly amounts of credit MS flung my way last year).

Think I'm slowly going digital only. For one it saves me having lots of stuff on shelves... :) Just don't like the idea of possibly not being able to access my content in years to come. But hey life is too short right... :)

Picked this up yesterday from the singapore store with the recent offer on credit. Worked out about £24 as $100 cost me £38 and I still have equivalent of about £14 of credit left. Standard price from there is still good though at £32.

Great stuff! :) So many buying options these days with digital content... Will have to investigate a bit next time I want to buy a release digitally at launch....

Just got my copy from the local retailer - £50 in MS UK store digitally - £43 Argos. Anyhow... worth every penny as this is going to get some serious hours logged to it... :D

Had a quick go of this, done the intro races and picked a fiesta xr2 for the next ones. First impressions - The handling and visuals are superb, the feedback on the triggers elevates this above all the other driving games i've played. Hopefully will be trying online tonight :)

"Hi rich! As a forza veteran, here's some free cash and cars. But we're still going to force you through 40 minutes of extended tutorial with lots of unskippable stuff introducing features from the last 3 iterations of the game, that you already sat through once during the demo we know you've played before letting you spend that money at the car shop and get started with the paint mode"

This is... Very very good....

Detail on the cars in Autovista mode OMG. Finished the qualifying races loving the grid sizes now feels like full on racing.

Finally took an Alfa 4C round a wet 'Ring. Wow just wow. Those puddles just feel so "right".

T10 have done a fantastic job of translating how a car feels to a controller. Again. Feels like Forza is back on form.

I realized I'm developing a certain fondness for Fords, having grabbed an Escort Cosworth and Fiesta ST. That Fiesta had me straight on the Ford site to see what it costs.

How do I end up with an exclamation on some laps? I noticed that, despite beating a time, people without a ! on that lap rank higher.

You get the mark for:

Going off the track

Colliding with a wall or car

Slipstreaming, or being slipstreamed

Rewinding

Prague does look quite beautiful, far more so than it did in 5 but that may be my memory playing tricks

Another track that looks quite wonderful is Laguna Seca, never seen it looking so barren and dusty in a game, and the visual clues of a potential accident ahead you can't actually see, but a large dust cloud indicates is fantastic

This feels so much better as a game than 5, its still a pretty straight track racer but just feels better put together as a game. No other game represents the feeling of grip and pushing the tyres to their edge of traction better than Forza

Wait to you drive the alps anti clockwise on the long circuit (without the tunnel)

The huge drop, then the drive into the sun over the lake bridge.

I'm not even sure it would be worth them doing Old Charade (i still wish they would though).

couldnt agree more, the sensation of grip is utterly superb, was pushing my impreza to the limit last night, lost it and held on sliding around the corner, utterly thrilling.

I wish they'd do some more city tracks like Prague. Really enjoyed playing the Project Gotham series for the realistic city circuits. Overall though this game is everything I expected of it.
