Just Cause 3

I'm enjoying the dumb fun in this despite the performance issues. It reminds me a lot of Red Faction: Guerrilla in the way it plays.

Regular or Pro flavour? I haven't given that much time yet, and can't really decide if I like it or not, but there haven't been any noticeable issues on my Pro (with boost mode enabled).

Regular, I believe that a Pro helps quite a bit.

Initially I believe there were some performance issues on PC, but I think those were ironed out pretty early. I certainly don't remember problems the last few time I've played.

This is pretty enjoyable it has to be said. A bit rough around the edges for sure (that map) But you can forgive It when there's so much freedom on offer, although once again I'm reminded that post Zelda not being able to climb any surface feels glitchy. 

 

The tether mechanic and the physics work well, I look forward to messing about with it more.

Well the grappling hook and parachute means there are no invisible walls in the game and every mountain/building can be scaled.  Or do you mean rock climber style?  Seems a strange accusation to throw at a game that offers massive freedom.

 Yeah it just feels a bit glitchy not being able to grip to mountain sides and so on. It's not a major criticism.

I don't think Stanley was being too critical. When you're used to a mechanic such as that in one game, its absence in another feels a bit strange for a while, even though Just Cause 3 doesn't require it thinks to the grappling hook.

Its worth noting this runs considerably worse on my XboxS than it does on my Ps4 (vanilla).  Would be interested to see how it runs on the pro.

I got this on plus, it's gloriously over the top, it's like GTA with Michael Mann in charge of the dynamite. Explosion not big enough? don't worry they'll be a big one along in a minute. I'm mostly just clearing the villages at the moment to the point where I can't recall the last mission I did. The PS4 makes it very easy to upload some highlights of stupidity:

I couldn't quite believe it had happened, I have played it before briefly on xbone but that was the first time I'd sat down with it for more than half an hour. There's a vast amount of scope to misbehave....

Yeah, of course Rocket League was special also because it was released first as a PS+ game.

How does it compare to the near constant slowdown of Zelda BoTW on wii u? It's not really hampering my enjoyment of the game but my god is it laggy...

 

Also this game will be mine when my student loan comes in. Can't wait to rocket boost cows.

 

Is there an open world online in this game? Why isn't it regarded as the best thing ever? JC2 was so good with its tethers and physics...

Just Cause 3 is a great game.  Just held back by some technical issues on the Xbox One and also a more boring landscape than Just Cause 2, imo.

The wingsuit is a joy.

 

I bought it on PC release, but never gave it much time because it was plagued by technical issues. The game would slow to a stuttering crawl, frequently freeze up, shit like that. Been back playing it this last week and enjoying it much more now that it's pretty stable (and I guess some new hardware helps). Wingsuit aside, it does feel pretty much like more Just Cause 2.

 

But that's what I wanted really.

Yep, Just Cause 3 mechanics and Just Cause 2 map and technical smoothness and you have a real winner.  It is also a series I think would be a lot of fun with some sort of online multiplayer.  Hopefully Just Cause 4 may appear and be the best of all the games.

Just polished off the last of the bases last night. My whole map is blue. I could keep going and re-opress some poor bastards, but I think it's best if I just leave it there. Such a fun game though.

The DLC is worth it as well.  Some really fun editions to your inventory.

Yeah, totally. That lightning gun. They could have easily had a gun that fires lightning, but a gun that actually calls in a lightning strike is way cooler for some reason.
