Just Cause 3

Just realised, I've played about 4-5 hours and have only done one mission so far. The rest of the time I've just blown shit up (and face-planted into various objects while wingsuiting). Haven't even felt compelled to advance the story, not sure if that's praise or criticism, perhaps a bit of both but even so blowing shit up hadn't been this much fun for ages. Will go back to Metal Gear soon enough, but this is a fun diversion. Rough around the edges but for the most part very enjoyable.

Did have my first server crash earlier, so reverted to offline. To be honest, as fun as the scoreboards are they're pretty disposable, so will happily play in offline the majority of the time for the improved performance. If they announce a patch or there are recognised issues then will switch back.

Haven't found the car handling too bad on the rare occasions I've used them but haven't done many challenges yet. Did do an air race, which was pretty twitchy but guess better planes will come along that make such races a lot easier.

I haven't had any crashes but the frame rate is properly shoddy, even at times where nothing much is going on.

Avalanche must have smelt something in the water with redundancies and the price being set to £30. For me, it's much like Fallout 4 - same game, new generation. I don't really see anything they couldn't have done before and nothing particularly groundbreaking.

Without wanting to sideline the thread I have to say Fallout 4 is not the same game, every system was overhauled and new ones also added.

I am disappointed about JC3 having serious issues though, it's a real shame.

Has it got serious issues aside from the loading? The server issues are because the game isn't out yet, right?

Serious slowdown and 10-15 frames per second at points. I'm not over exaggerating. I'm genuinely gutted about it!

If you can pick it up on PC then I'd highly recommend that. The console ports, or at least the PS4 port has been pretty shoddy.

I just recorded this now, hopefully it comes across in the video because I haven't experienced this in years. Anyway, it seems that when the fps drops the whole game actually slows down. It's so hard to control when it happens, it literally feels like I'm turning the helicopter through treacle. It's a fucking nightmare and it's genuinely something I don't think I've experienced in many years.

You can see at the start of the video it's like treacle and then there's little bursts of it reverting back to normal speed at around the 1 minute mark before having massive slowdown again.

I'll be honest , after watching that video , my first thought was "that looked fucking awesome" .

I'm not disputing that , it's probably not translating as well through YouTube, plus I'm viewing it on a phone , but it looked like good fun .

I honestly can say I Havnt had any major dips in framerate and I've done that part that was shown on the video . A few drops here and there, but nothing that has spoiled my enjoyment of the game.

I seem to have managed to reduce the load times as well, by turning off wifi on my ps when I'm playing . Don't get me wrong, they are still pretty lengthy, but there is a definite improvement .

I'm not denying the load times or framerate drops - just didn't seem to bother me and i stuck a good 10h into this over the weekend on PS4 - which is something I haven't done with a game in several years. Its everything I hoped it would be (apart from the niggles mentioned)

I didn't have it crash on me once either.

Aside from the loading times and the server problems, I have had no gameplay related issues in my time with it so far. Definitely no crashes.

Also, it is fun and that is what counts the most. Frame-rate dips may happen, but I am too busy watching giant explosions to care.
