The Interview - Rogen & Franco attempt to assassinate Kim Jong-Un

Recommended Posts

This is Rogen and Adam Goldberg's directorial follow up to This Is The End. It's due out in October and sees Rogen and Franco being granted an interview with the North Korean leader, and the CIA stepping to ask them to assassinate him.

Is it meant to be a comedy? You think a trailer would show something funny if it was.

I fucking loved This Is The End, btw ...I'm not saying this because I think they suck.

"Two guys who are very good with the right material, and somehow both self-indulgently vomit-inducing and cripplingly dull the rest of the time? I'll watch anything they fart out!"

You didn't watch the trailer, then?

I did. That's what I was refering to when I posted.

I especially liked the part when James Franco was confused about whether Kim Jong Un could talk to dolphins.

Finally, the DPRK response

Pyongyang has threatened the US with a "resolute and merciless response" unless the authorities move to ban the film, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco.

In a statement carried by North Korea's official KCNA news agency, a foreign ministry spokesman said the film was the work of "gangster moviemakers" and should never be shown.

The spokesman said: "The act of making and screening such a movie that portrays an attack on our top leadership ... is a most wanton act of terror and act of war, and is absolutely intolerable."

Red Band Trailer - essentially means they can say fuck a lot. Maybe I'm getting old but could we get a Rogen movie where there isn't a slo-mo shot of him partying? I'm amazed they got through the trailer (which is nearly 3 minutes) without a weed joke.

It's done then. Release scrapped after the hacking and the threats to blow up cinemas showing it. I wonder if it's shelved or if they still release it in some form, straight to DVD or streaming or whatever.

Yeah they should get it online in some form ASAP you would think. Party as a show of defiance against what North Korea are trying to do, but also because there is a lot of buzz around the film, and if they try to make a more low-key release in the new year, people probably won't be as interested. If they're going to have a slightly tepid and very much delayed wide release, might as well get it online somehow now.
