Nope. As long as you've got no metal weapons equipped you can wear the metal armour in the rain. Unless they've patched it in?

Really?  I was pretty sure I got hit, but probably didnt think to remove a metal bow or something.

Does armor do anything except from the passive resistances / bonuses it gives.

It adds defence which reduces the damage you take? One of the sets has a few active benefits.

I'm fairly certain metal armour attracts lightning too.

I'll do some testing tonight :)

Re armour, once you unlock the ability to

Spoiler

Upgrade it to level 3 & 4

The defence stats rise quite sharply and it does offer you some decent protection. As far as I know, however, all armour sets have the same max stats, so you can change depending on the environment and still retain good defence. I definitely think there's an element of Fashion Souls to the armour too. Some pieces match up really well with pieces from other sets

Master Sword:

It shoots laser beams - well, a laser disk - when you're on full hearts, man. And it doesn't break, just goes away for a little lie down from time to time.

And I'm pretty sure all that 'seals the darkness' guff is pointing towards something important it might be needed for. If only there were other clues along the way.

Crushed a bokoblin with a mining cart last night as I ran out of arrows and most of my melee weapons were broken.

Just used magnetism, moved it off the tracks, held it above its head for a split second and released.  Such a simple thing but it was fucking hilarious.  I do wish you could record gameclips on the Wii U like you can on the XB1!

Yeah video sharing is a must in this day and age. Maybe we'll get it in a future update, along with all the other bare basics we're waiting for.

Never even seen that armour!

GTFO. You don't go into every building you find? How do you get clues from diaries or read up new recipes from recipe books you find lying around, then? Not forgetting that several people you meet go on about the Hateno fashions...

Yeah, metal armour attracts lightning - just open your inventory during a storm and look at each of the classes of weapon, bow, shield and armour; if it's sparking, it'll attract lightning. You don't need to drop it, just choose it in the Inventory and select Remove, unequipping it.

Similarly for Death Mountain - do the same, and anything shown as smoking in the inventory will burst into flames if you equip it. So don't.

Ancient armour and kit is not metallic and doesn't attract lightning.
