The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Just a critter and a monster piece, cooked in the regular pots. The bottle which you hold them in is magically created when you cook.

I'm now 95 shrines in, 5 more to go and I'll go kill Ganon. I also need to get myself the ancient armour, haven't bothered with it yet. Currently at over 85 hours played.

It almost feels like the game is actually just about finding shrines, memories and side quests.  The actual main objective in the game, kill Ganon, doesn't seem that important, which is weird.

Completed a major test of strength earlier and got

a poxy knights halberd in the chest

WTF!

Also I deflected one of the little guardian bot's bolts, bounced it back and it killed it in one. Was that a perfect guard?

My final Divine Beast was Vah Naboris today,  and wow its music is stunning. I love a good Zelda dungeon theme and that's shot up onto the top ten list. The way it builds and throws in these little dissonant bits is just gorgeous

Done my second divine beast this weekend. The bird, with the first one, the camel, only a few days ago. And just now watching the golf I have 60 shrines completed.

So that's half way done, although I'm sure I'll never do it all.

No idea how long I've played though. I dont see that anywhere. Do I need to turn parental controls on?

As I promised my son I wouldn't tackle Vah Ruta without him watching, I went off on a tangent tonight and randomly found a 2nd memory though my attempt to cross Laranyu Mountain was screwed as my clothing wasn't strong enough to tackle the cold. Managed to kill my first Hinox with my customary cowardly tactic of standing high on a ledge and dropping bombs for ten minutes until it was finally dead...then crept down, grabbed the goodies and scarpered before the pesky Lynel zapped me in the back again. Found a bunch of Koroks on my travels and think I'm finally starting to grasp the signs of them being there and how to make them appear. My useless literal/ non lateral brain finally figured out the obvious way of getting to the non magnetic chests floating in the water.

I'm rolling in cash from wandering back to Hateno and flogging all my horns and guts and shiny stones, but have nothing to spend it on :( Feeling pretty underarmed right now as well - my sojourn to the coast has only brought up boko clubs and things, which feel like a step back from the weapons I've been brandishing.

Those woods you have use a torch to get through to find a shrine... good grief. Took aaaaaaages!

And having to fight the spoiler in the dark!

Torch? Take along a fire or meteor rod and spray those fireballs around. Long range firelighters! Didn't take me too long at all...

98 shrines and really struggling to find any more. Radar on, exploring the emptier areas of the map, watching for birds (who unhelpfully also circle over completed shrines) and still nada.

How anyone can find them all without a guide or hundreds of hours of meticulous traversal boggles my mind.

I beat my fourth divine beast yesterday as well (grumpy camel) after about 80 hours. I've got nearly 100 shrines but I still haven't even visited some areas so I'm going to do my utmost to get them without a guide. I haven't used a guide for any aspect of the game at all so far, including the shrine puzzles, and have stayed away from YT videos and this thread as much as possible; it's been wonderful discovering everything for myself. After the shrines I'll mop up any sidequests I haven't completed, any missing memories and then I'd quite like to upgrade all my armour as much as possible before I head off to Ganon.

Does anyone know if there's a Dark Souls-style 'checklist' of cool things to do before you complete the game? Barring the above-mentioned things and the Korok seeds (which I'm not bothered about) I think I've done most things already.

Just checked my WiiU log:

122 hours played

1 Divine Beast

42 Shrines

120 Korok seeds

I reckon I'll top 250 hours before I'm done.

Blimey. What have you been doing in all that time, just wandering about?

I did that. And used the two fire rods I found. Still impossible to discern any actual route - the "lamps" you light don't actually make a path.

If you head towards the sound of the spoiler then it's right next to the shrine. That's how I navigated through it.

Solving all the towns problems in Gerudo, is that just a case of doing all the quests? I don't have any left apart from the one for the helm.

I also got into the secret club for the first time this morning.

Spoiler

Does the glowing armour have any effects other than looking cool?

I know right? Just imagine that!

Sarcasm aside, yes pretty much that. Why wouldn't you? It's the most amazing game world that's ever been made.

Don't get me wrong: I fully appreciate how amazing it is. I just thought that in all that time you'd have come across more shrines, unless you're purposefully leaving them all.

In answer to your first question, yes. I found there were two sidequests that weren't there previously (i.e., pre-Naboris): one involving melon rinds and another involving a missing soldier...

If you wear the twice upgraded set skeletons won't attack you at night, bone weapons get an attack boost

I think the first bonus you mention applies from the start (GSC hint for @Jonny5).

Just the two? I ended up heading back to a third location I overheard in a bar, but it was something I had already done when pootling about near the coast, so wasn't sure if it counted or not.

I'm just doing them as I find them. Not got the shrine locator turned on, so I really am just exploring, mostly on foot, and looking at stuff on the map that interests me.
