But you'll miss so many things if you do this!

Of course, it's not always convenient to absolutely make sure that you must be back in time for beddy-byes. Just make up for it by sleeping during the following day. I find that forking out for the inns early on makes for a pretty decent rupee-sink.

Earlier the game had captured me afresh. Well, that feeling has only continued all the more. It's interesting that once a game has 'won you over' all its flaws seem mostly irrelevant...and unless a large portion of the latter half is awful, once it has clicked it will mostly stay that way. In fact - maybe some can relate to this - a large proportion of my favourite games have some really serious flaws. But once you're entranced by a game's world and it has done enough right for it to fundamentally be a joy to play, any less convincing moments, inconsistencies, control issues, framerate/technical issues, even balancing issues to an extent...they all really don't factor in too much. And I'm not saying BotW is some flawed gem or 'rough diamond'; it's actually one of the most polished games of its scale I have ever played. But for whatever reason, it took quite a while longer to truly 'get me' than it seems it took others here. Now that it has, I'm finding it entirely thrilling to play in the same way only a few games in the past have managed to be. It really is a masterpiece.

I wouldn't want to role-play the game completely, but I did have a lovely moment once at the Riverside Stable.

It was raining, & I decided to put off my journey towards Hateno Village until it stopped.  So, I found a small awning near the stable, lit a fire under it using Firewood & Flint (something i'd never tried before) & then I just passed the time waiting for the rain to stop by roasting Meat, Fish & Apples & watching the travelers along the road.

I've done similar, at least in terms of wanting to take shelter. Going to have a cook up as well next time.

In fact, I've often thought an umbrella would be quite an amusing little bonus item to have in the game!

I can't find it anywhere now but I'm sure I read a little while ago that there is one mountain range on the map which is named but not explorable (you get the 'can't go any further' message), and they were speculating that the DLC would be set there as it is the only part of the map which is named where you can't go.

Let me see if I can find where I saw it...

I don't think I could've found the generic woodland one at the bottom right of the album without him.

I found that one completely by accident! Stumbled across it as i happened to be running through the area.

Lucky, as there are no clues at all as to where it is. Not that i could see, anyway.

Not sure if this is common knowledge yet but cooking 1 big hearty radish on its own fills up all your hearts and gives you 5 extra.

Saves trying random combo's for similar effects!

My go to is radish+meat+bass. Upgrading each will give more +<3

Yeah, the woodland glades are the hardest to pinpoint without his help.

Anything with a monumental bit of architecture - or a big ol' mountain split into two in the middle distance - is relatively easy to work out.

Dunno, I spent ages trying to find one the looking at Duelling Peaks, heading further and further back and still not finding the right place. Gave up and luckily found the right place for the Hyrule Bridge one.

First one I've found but loads of the map still to explore. Only just entered Zora kingdom and activated that tower.

Sorta bottom of the map, left of centre. I saw that message and found it a bit weird!

Amazing that after 120 hours of this (inc. 91 shrines, 40-50 sidequests, 4 beasts and 110 Koroks) I'm still massively addicted, utterly in love, and still discovering loads of new areas, beautifully hidden shrines with all new mechanics, and entirely new animals and monsters (moldugas - bugger me).

I genuinely can't bear the thought of finishing this and playing ANYTHING else, on any platform. It actually stresses me out that at some point I'll have to go back to... y'know... 'games'.

This post needs more love.

Spoiler

The fish nibble at whatever you drop in! :) I wonder if they planned to have a fishing rod in the game but had to take it out for some reason?

I can only see arcadey stuff still having that alluring shine. I'm super-pumped for getting back into MK8 after this.

Anything else adventury can do one. I'm not interested. For all of my modding endeavours and 525 hours of game play my enthusiasm for continuing with Skyrim has been killed. I'm even finding it hard to look forward to Mario at the end of the year.

Use a food that gives the special effect for the fish type to attract them. Want Hearty Bass? Throw in a couple of Durians to lure them over, Mighty carp? Try bananas :)

What about whatever the electric fish is? Never seen a single one of them in the wild, and I need to show a korok one.

Thing is, you have to find the fish first,

Spoiler

then you can lure them with the right food. In that case zapshroom would do it.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Over a hundred of every other kind caught. Never seen an electric one. Not even for sale.

Fish type and location.

Did this today - it's a Voltfin Trout - near Lanryu Tower there's a river there to the North

The power up you get from the Gerudo beast is brilliant. In fact, all of them are, but that's the one i love the most. Just did the shrine quest where you have to beat up 3 brothers and it was very useful for that.

So, I've done all the beasts, about 120 koroks, most of the memories, have the master sword and about 75 shines. I'm gonna mop up most of the remaining shrines, maybe to 100 if i can find them and then kill Ganon. If I struggle getting to the 120 I may have to consult a guide as I'm already finding it difficult to find new ones now. I'm sort of wandering around areas of the map which look a little empty hoping for the best.
