it's been an open world game defined by not chasing stats, but the experiences in it. That's what's made it seem so refreshing I think.

Sorry for the stat,  but I 100% agree with this.

I've only just found him again, and twice in quick succession at that.

Location hint:

He turns up at a stable just to the SE of Hyrule Castle initially, and then in Korok Forest which is N of Hyrule Castle

I'd spent maybe over 100+ hours exploring almost everywhere but where he appears, so had about 99 Korok seeds to cash in when I finally caught up with him.

Question - now that I've done that, I can't see the total number of Korok seeds I've found anywhere. The game was keeping tabs on the loading screens before., but I think it was just the number I was holding. Any idea where I can see the total number I've collected?

I'm pretty sure the value on the loading screen is your total collected so far [emoji4]

Anyone been to Tingel Island yet?

The Shrine looks way harder than it actually is but it's hidden nicely and I solved it by pressing the wrong button

the island is pretty good fun though with lots of good stuff hidden around it.

Has anyone tried attaching an octo balloon to something, flying up and then attaching another one in a chain? I've tried using a big slab of rock and didn't get very high up but I want to see if I can break the game by going miles up a lá Just Cause 2.

Wonder what the new story will be in the expansion mode?

Maybe "Link's Air Tours".

Fresh from saving the kingdom, Link retires as a knight and sets up an airship, powered in part by ancient sheikah tech.

He ferries customers around the sights of Hyrule for rupees, occasionally getting into various scrapes with dragons and rival tour operators.

Finished off ganon tonight and clocked the game in at just under 60 hours with 80 shrines done. I think I'll put the game down for now, the initial few days are fantastic but now I've finished the main quest I can start to see the game for what it is. Game of the year? Good contender. One of the best games of all time? Not really.

I think it says something that Xenoblade Chronicles X gave me far bigger feeling of awe than zelda did with it's progression. Getting a mech, fighting with it for the first time, and then later unlocking the ability to fly with it were amazing, Breath of the Wild doesn't really have anything like that but then again that's a cost of having a progression system based around being able to play the game objectives in any order.

I finally found my way into the

Yiga clan

hideout. Turns out that the massive vertical hole in the ground that I originally found wasn't the way in...

And I found the 10K rupees needed for a certain someone.

I think I need to wrap this up - also 150 hours in - would like to do all the shrine quests given to me by the parroty troubador. The kid who's a weapon nut can bugger off - he's asked be for something called a Windshearer now; another weapon I have never heard of.

Anyone know if there's anything doing with the soppy couple who are looking for a particular live flower?

How the hell do people get through so quickly? I'm heading toward 50 hours and have done none of the 4 bosses and only about 30 shrines. Have you done side quests too?

I was playing this when I came across a guardian, bad news for him as I pulled out my shield but suddenly there were two and I took a big hit :o

One of them down with some great shield parrying and time to do the second but where the fuck is it...

I then found a pile of ancient pieces can only conclude that Link had some kind of guardian destroying fart or that the first guardian killed the other one when I took a big hit!!!

Spent most of today so far in hunter-gatherer mode, amassing a bunch of supplies and monster parts for those sweet, sweet armour upgrades. At one point I found a field of loaded apple trees, spent a happy five minutes going bomb-crazy and I had nearly 200 of the buggers. Cooked them up and flogged them, that's over a grand in rupees. Sounds boring, but was somehow deeply satisfying. And I just need one more Hightail Lizard for my climbing gear set bonus. With the expanded stamina wheel, I'm turning into a right mountaineering machine.

Some light exploration mixed in, a few new shrines and a Lynel taken down. I'm getting much better at dodging the rushes, but I didn't manage the cool thing of parrying then getting on his back. I'm surprised how powerful the defence-boost foods are, they make his hits do virtually nothing.

It's quite manageable if you never get side-tracked and strictly follow the markers and hints.

I prefer to turn the HUD off and explore. I'm on 85 hours and just under half-way there I think. Two Divine Beasts, 60 shrines, 15 heart containers, an additional stamina wheel, and 220 Koroks. I still have four map towers to activate and I've not really explored anywhere thoroughly yet to the point where I feel that I never need to return.

This is easily my favourite game of all time now, by a considerable margin as well.

HUD off is a game changer, I spent my first 80 hours with it on thinking anyone saying it should be off was clearly mad but having it off now just adds to the game, the feeling of being 'lost' in the world is properly brilliant and this just heightens it.

Its right up there for me too.

110 hours, 4 beast done, Ganon done, 95 shrines and 2 memories remaining.

Going for 120 shrines and upgrading my gear as much as I can.

Utterly love it, every minute is ludicrously fun. Bravo Nintendo!

It kind of slightly wrecks the Camel I think. You can completely bypass one of the puzzles, which felt especially wrong. I think it was intentional for that to be an option for players, but it still felt wrong.

Lizard and Elephant are the stars. Love those two.

Stumbled across the

Found my way inside. 'Oh, this is cool' I said.

Then I shouted 'Oh Fuck'. Shat myself. Took a lot of pain. Made it through though. Just.

I've softened my stance on clicking spoilers/looking up help for specific things, but I'm definitely letting myself discover whatever that is. It sounds cool :)

I quite enjoyed the Camel; the skip must have been intentional as it would have been really easy to block it. I thought the Camel's boss was the standout one too.

Calamity Gannon is down. I'd all four beasts done, 105 shrines and a bunch of good weapons and armour so I kerb stomped him. Kudos to the game for giving you the traditional Zelda growth via unconventional means.

I quite liked the ending, wasn't sure what to expect with people complaining. Zelda stories are always relatively straightforward affairs and all the better for it.

I think I hold off the last 15 shrines for the first bit of DLC: I need my life back for a start. Looking out over the plateau seems like a million years ago. This is definitely one of those games you wish you could wipe your memory and restart fresh. Not sure if it's the best ever but it's close.

There are ways you could improve it, but the game transcends its flaws. I'm kind of glad there is too, as a about a quarter of the way in I thought there was maybe nowhere Nintendo could go from here.
