I'm strolling up with a Lightscale Trident, a Lynel Crusher, and assorted Guardian weapons. A SOLID GOLD BOW! And what does this little fuck want? A fucking MOBLIN CLUB, OF THE KIND THAT NO LONGER EXISTS. WHEN I DO FINALLY FIND ONE, NEBB, YOU'LL DEFINITELY SEE IT! I'LL BEAT YOU TO WITHIN AN INCH OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE WITH IT, YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE SHIT.

But you've seen one, right - up on the plateau?

I found one, but he then asked me for a 'duplex bow'. Hundred hours later, and I've never seen one. Ever.

What? I'm not happy after tracking down all the memory pic locations.

'Oh, Zelda told me to show you this...' There's

another bloody memory to track down. And it's based on some muddy-looking painting that includes... some Guardians. Thanks; that really narrows it down.

Ruined pillars look like the plain before the fort, but I can't spot the location. What a pain.

If you've been anywhere near the location, or seen half the other memories, or spoken to any one of about 30 different people who tell you how or where Link "died", it's pretty obvious.

Spoiler

Those Yiga archers normally carry duplex bows.

I killed my first roaming bump into it in the wild guardian this morning.  First two shots I parry perfectly, then lose a shield as I was a bit slow (I was getting onto a train at the time and took my eyes off the screen for a second) and then nailed the third one destroying the bugger.

The moment was rather spoiled though as I ran in to collect the loot a mounted Moblin appeared in front of me.  No problem I think, I'll just clobber him when he gets close.  Only he doesn't get close, he just circles me firing arrows.  Electric arrows.  I parry and block a couple but pretty much every shot results in me getting shocked & dropping my shield.  He burns through Mifa's grace & about 3 or 4 fairies before I finally die without hitting him even once. :(

What the others haven't mentioned is that the enemies which drop the bow don't appear until after a certain story quest in the desert is completed.

I've had the weapon quest in my log for about 15 hours. Haven't seen a single Traveller's Sword that whole time. Does anyone know if there's one lying around somewhere?

There's one in Kakariko village, look at the bottom of the waterfall at the top of the river that runs through the middle of the village.

Not true. I bumped into one just outside Kokoriko Village long before I even went to the desert.

Maybe you have to kill so many then? I certainly wasn't seeing the archers or the swordsmen until I visited their base.

Actually, I remember I saw one even earlier than that - just north of the stable east of Dueling Peaks - long before I even reached the village! Can't remember if that was an archer or not though.

Spoiler

Are you sure you're not getting confused with the regular Yiga clan members? There's a definite progression, you meet them disguised as travellers first armed with sickles, then they start turning up with those weird ring swords, then there's the bows and finally the guys with the wind swords.

Spoiler

I'm pretty sure that I didn't see a Duplex Bow until I actually got to the Yiga Clan hideour, where there were loads of them. All the disguised Yiga had a Vicious Sickle, it's only the randomly appearing archers that carry bows, now. I'd already reduced Duplex Bows to "drop when something better appers" status, but I'll make sure I keep one on me at all times from now on!

Gotta say, at the moment. This isn't clicking with me. It's massively impressive on a technical level. But its just.. I don't know. Im almost forcing myself to play it. I think I;m trying to do too much, I usually try  and mop up all the side quests available before moving the main quest on with open world stuff, and I get the feeling that;s not how this should be played.

Is a duplex bow one with a really long range? I found one of those on the Plateau somewhere I think and kept it with me for about 50 hours until it broke. It was low-power but extremely useful for sniping low-health enemies like Octoroks.

Seek urgent medical help I think.

I still have loads of side quests and I've killed Ganon, I really wouldn't stress over them, pick a few and do them by all means but more importantly go out into the big wide world and explore/discover.

It's just the opposite for me. I'm not trying to do any tasks in an organised way at all. Sometimes I'll pick up a side quest and do it there and then but more often I'll start with the intention of something or other but then see a tower or shrine or bunch of moblins or speak to somebody else and think of something else to do. I'm mainly just exploring to be honest and ticking off the odd thing here and there while I'm at it.

Whats completely stunning about this game is how you really end up getting to know the world as you explore it and open up maps for the ground covered. I've tramped all over huge tranches of land now and, without feeling particularly powerful (still 7 or 8 hearts I think, certainly not much more than that), I rarely feel out of my depth and am beginning to really "know" the place. Well the bits I've been to that is....

And as for weapons breaking all the time, I've got two or three cracking weapons I've had for quite a while now and whip out on special occasions. Weapon vulnerability is a fantastic inclusion though, it really adds to the need to keep fighting and exploring and, from time to time, really adds some tension to the combat

I thought the White-maned Lynel was the Lynel's final form. It is not.

Spoiler

A Silver Lynel has 5000 HP! They hit extremely hard and do not give two fucks about a barrage of arrows to the face. Parrying them is like playing chicken with a bullet train. Makes the first Lynel I encountered 100 hours ago on top of the mountain above Zora's Domain seem like a pushover. They drop nice loot though.

I'm definitely not as in love with it as most people here, and there's no way this is even close to the best game ever, but even I am really enjoying it.

"How this should be played" is "however you damn well want".

Early low-level bokoblin and moblins sometimes carry/drop them. Maybe try some of the encampments on the plateau, or along the river between the first two villages/near the twin mountains.

Stuff lying about on the plains tends to be rusty broadswords and the like - ah, wait - I found an encampment of moblins between the twins bridge and the fort, on a slight rise, last night; they had stuck a pattern of a dozen swords into the ground (maybe it was Koroks); they might have been traveller's swords.

Like I say, I'll stick with it - I'm sure it just needs to click. Don't get me wrong , I am enjoying aspects of it, I think I'm just worry about missing something and its spoiling it a bit. I think I'll just crack on with the main story a bit . Bear in mind I am quite early on, i've only just got the camera.

You have missed something. We all have. Lots of things. It doesn't matter.

Definitely don't worry about missing anything... if I would suggest one thing it would be avoid fast travelling.  Get a horse to move around faster if you need to... but if you've got a goal in mind, walk or ride to it.

Early on I was very reluctant to move on, and was keen to thoroughly 'rinse' the starting area before progressing.

Then it started to sink in just how absolutely massive the world is, and since then I've just gone where the wind takes me. It's much more enjoyable that way (not that I wasn't loving it already).

The game keeps very good track of any quests you've started, so it's not like you can't go back and get everything.
