I keep finding out new little things which put a smile on my face. For instance I was out in the Gerudo Highlands and came across some of those big blocks of ice, one of which had a Bokoblin jumping and shouting in front of it. Turns out

the block of ice had his buddy trapped inside!
Needless to say, I dispatched both of those foul beasts.

Also if you crouch while opening a chest Link will punch it instead of kicking it and hurt his hand in the process. :D

Same happens if you let him kick one when he's not wearing shoes :-)

Something I noticed at the time, but haven't been able to verify:

The priests at the end of the four shrines on the Plateau are all forming triangles with their hands, but in different positions. I suspect if you were to superimpose them, you'd end up with the Triforce.

Finished the

Spoiler

Lomei Labyrinth Island yesterday and dropped down underneath to see many guardians in various states of repair. Slowly made my way around, picking up the parts from the dead ones and dispatched the two walkers (cutting off their legs is so satisfying!)

Finally made it to the chest in the middle, picked up the diamond circlet and then a whole bunch of them activated. Suddenly I had four guardians training their lasers on me. Bollocks. I was all set to make a hasty retreat back up to the main level but the words of @Spainkiller rang in my ears. I girded my loins, grabbed my shittiest shield and put them away with four perfect parries in a row. Lovely stuff.

I kinda wish there was an optional overlay on the map to show which areas you've been to.

I suppose it could make exploration feel a bit rote, fill-in-the-map, which is something the way the map reveals in big chunks with only major landmarks named helps avoid. Wonder if they had it in there at some stage?

I want to know everything about how this was created

Isn't this what the map stamps can be used for?

I want to explore the colder regions but don't have a cold resistant elixir.

i want to avoid using guides but don't feel that I'm getting the most out of the game without using one.

Hint hint fire hint.

EDIT: fire *properties* hint hint.

4 bits of any old monster parts and a critter always worked for me. Critters include butterflies, lizards and the like. The critter description tells you what kind of effect you'll get.

I tend to do 1 monster part (guts normally) to any amount of critter depending on the time I want it to last. Is that the maths?

then to get the next level (there's low, mid and high), you change for a less common critter?

Are you picking up everything you can and reading the description?

You don't *need* elixirs.

Other than cooking meat with herbage, I'm really struggling with elixirs.

im refusing to Gamefaq recipes, but would that be cheating?

whats the proper way?

Critter + monster parts.

So a lizard and guts, or something.

Don't add food or it'll fuck it up.

I think it's that way around for elixirs, and that simple. Food's slightly different (e.g. a specific combination of large and regular hearty radishes seems to be best).

Yeah I put meat in with herbs and guts and it comes out as dubious food.

basically shit I wouldn't eat in real life.

Keep critters and monster parts away from food. They'll give elixirs. Food items combine to give meals (or just cooked food).

I refer to this for recipes, mostly because I like mucking about with the cooking but I needed some good solid stuff. Also I don't wanna piss away good ingredients. http://orcz.com/Breath_of_the_Wild:_Recipes#Dishes_.28Restore_Stamina.29

How does someone get off the plateau without covering this?

Honest answers

Heals through the cold by eating massive amounts of apples.

Runs from camp to camp lighting fires

Runs with a torch

Just off the top of my head

I get cooking food with chilli. But I've got loads of monster parts and critters sitting idle.

Mix a critter with the appropriate description with a monster part. I have t experimented yet with critter+bokoblin guts vs critter+moblin guts to see if higher level monster parts have an effect.

I do know if you want to dye your armour then critters will come in handy. You need 5 of any various item that colour to dye stuff. And it's best not to waste the good stuff, so use the shitty critters. Oh, or change up some chu chu jelly (like dropping some next to a fire for red).

I meant with regards to the old man's quest but I guess it's optional.

I finally managed to get up the volcano and, at last, I got to visit the Gorons (my favourite characters in the whole Zelda universe). I'll spoiler this but it was hilarious.

I saw a mini Talus and his dumpy little mates in the distance so I decided to fire a bomb arrow at them - naturally, my bomb arrow exploded as soon as i pulled back on my bow and I committed suicide - what a Rodney Plonker!

They don't let you see what the next level's requirements are, if you haven't unlocked the means to get them.

But they allow you to see what you need for any piece that could be upgraded if you had the parts. Just go back to the fairy and ask again, and she'll say something along the lines 'Do you you want to check?' - just agree, and you can see the upgrade requirements for everything currently possible. It'll even highlight the incomplete stuff in red.

It's only when you haven't unlocked the next Great Fairy that stuff will read ????/????

Edit: although the original poster did complain it was all a bit unwieldy, especially if you're upgrading a bunch of stuff. Which I guess it is.

Cheers man. That's definitely better than what I had assumed was happening. Not sure why they make you ask them again though. Maybe to confuse feeble minded people such as myself.
