One memory left!

The ending hints at a different ending if you get them all. Is it different?

Me, too.

Last couple I didn't bother with hints, and managed to find the location by exploration/recognizing the landmarks.

Noticed quite a cool little visual clue if you're not quite sure where to find the next shrine, not sure if this is obvious so I'll stick it in a spoiler.

Spoiler

From what I can tell most,if not all of them, have a flock of birds flying directly over them

One of the characters at a stable tells you this. Pretty sure it's a loading screen tip too.

One thing i'm never quite sure of with the Shrine Detector is how good it is at working vertically?  If I jump from a high place & am gliding over the map, could I be missing Shrines that are too far below me to register?

I think Edge should re-score this as 11/10.  It's genuinely better than it needed to be.

It's shaping up to topple Perfect Dark as my favourite game of all time. I'm about half-way through and already at that stage where I don't want it to end, and this is the beautiful part... It doesn't need to end any time soon. I'm leaving my house each day to either do a spot of hunting, Guardian killing, ore mining, crabbing/fishing, or whatever else. I just reached Lurelin Village two nights ago so I've been hanging out there in the hot sun with Links top off - swimming, fishing, cooking and eating dinner with the families there, and staying at the inn at night time. One of the kids wants to take me to some ruins but the weather always turns when we get half-way there so he comes running back to the village.

I never thought I'd be able to roleplay a Zelda game again after LttP.

Also, I love how seamless it is when you manage to work your way indoors to shelter during a storm. The lighting and audio transition is absolutely perfect, especially when you can see how bad the weather is outside from inside.

Oh that is cool, I didn't know this. Pretty sure it isn't a loading screen tip. I've not seen it mentioned anyway.

It just goes off direction not taking up and down into account.

Anybody know the difference between the guide books. Is it just a poster and hard/soft covers?

I think its just the Map. I've got the hardcover version . It's lovely

They could really do with streamlining the armour upgrade interface. I think I spent about 10-15 minutes last night doing a comprehensive set of upgrades to a load of my armour. I love the fairies in this game but I don't need to go through the whole process every single time I want to do a single upgrade to a single piece of armour. Especially now that I have two pages worth.

When do you get good enough weapons to have a chance against the Minotaur creature?  I've got swords of level 36 which barely scratch him, and if it gets close your side jump / back flip is so short you get hit anyway.

I'm loving the adventure part of the game but combat is dragging it down.

I've killed one. I did spam him with bomb arrows and used stasis a lot as I am a big cowardly fanny :( I still beat him though and stole his monster parts :)

I always leave a single piece of armour unupgraded just so I can check back what the upgrade requirements for the other pieces are.  I get the feeling that you're supposed to either be using a guide or writing it down manually.

It is a bit strange that they don't let you just look at the requirements for the armour upgrades even when you can't have anything done. Any idea why they did that? It can't be to make you use a guide or write things down surely?

They don't let you see what the next level's requirements are, if you haven't unlocked the means to get them.

But they allow you to see what you need for any piece that could be upgraded if you had the parts. Just go back to the fairy and ask again, and she'll say something along the lines 'Do you you want to check?' - just agree, and you can see the upgrade requirements for everything currently possible. It'll even highlight the incomplete stuff in red.

It's only when you haven't unlocked the next Great Fairy that stuff will read ????/????

Edit: although the original poster did complain it was all a bit unwieldy, especially if you're upgrading a bunch of stuff. Which I guess it is.

It might just be one layer too deep on the armour system versus other stuff that needed to be developed.

I keep imagining which other games you could make with this engine by adding new systems or going deep on some of what's already there. With the existing gathering/mining stuff and expanded armour/weapon/combat systems you could make an amazing Monster Hunter. The fight at

the top of Mount Lanayru

even shows how well monsters escaping to a new zone and you chasing them down could work in this open world.

The soft-cover version also includes a big map with all the shrines on it etc. and a line to follow to walkthrough the game in their suggested order.

I think the hard cover has an extra large fold out map that the soft cover doesn't. Could be wrong though

A Monster Hunter done in this way would be absolutely mind blowing.

On top of that, there's the super duper edition that has additional content (a 16 page history of Zelda bit and another 16 page art section), is about the size of a small wall, and costs more than double what I paid for the game itself

I like that all the stables are built like Shrines to it

Yes! They make sense now!

I do like the way the fairies' animation changes seemingly depending on which level you're upgrading. Level three was particularly amusing :)

Is that the one where they finger Link's bumhole?

I keep finding out new little things which put a smile on my face. For instance I was out in the Gerudo Highlands and came across some of those big blocks of ice, one of which had a Bokoblin jumping and shouting in front of it. Turns out

the block of ice had his buddy trapped inside!
Needless to say, I dispatched both of those foul beasts.

Also if you crouch while opening a chest Link will punch it instead of kicking it and hurt his hand in the process. :D

Scant compensation for not being able to roll Toon Link into low walls to see the stunned look on his face in WindWaker, but I'll take it...
