95+ hours played. Three beasts subdued. Last one left is the Bird. I think I'll take my time with this one. Don't want it to end.

Not to piss on your chips, but that one took me about 6 minutes.Way easier than the others :(

I'm not at the stage where I need those stardrop things yet, but when I see one fall from the sky when I'm out on my travels I make an effort to get myself to the drop spot. I've been doing this since I saw the second one drop and leave a marker - as I thought the first one was just a weather anomaly. I figured they were rare AF so are worth the effort.

That's a great plan, every time I go to the fairy I shudder thinking of the one I ate.

I'm wanting to upgrade my guardian armour set to its final level. Have everything needed bar ancient cores. Easiest way to farm these?

As much as I am loving the game, the dungeons are very poor for the Zelda series and seem, to me at least, to have been designed by the B team while the A team design everything else (which is pretty much the best gaming of all time)

Coming to these dungeons after recently finishing LA shows these up as pretty rubbish

They're just different. I'm unsure if you are talking about shrines or Divine Beasts but the shrines fit in with the whole ethos of the game of going anywhere, doing anything, without needing to sit down and think "right. I'm going to commit x hours to achieve this."

I for one don't miss the longevity of, say, OoT's Water Temple!

It would have been quite easy for them to make 10 - 12 traditional themed dungeons out of the 120 shrines knocking about, but they obviously wanted to shake things up a bit and find something to replace the heart container pieces with.

Maybe we'll get a fast-track sequel with exactly that, although with a much smaller world. I'm personally going to be disappointed if Zelda doesn't mean huge open-world exploration from now on, though.

Were there 120 stars in Mario 64? I can't quite remember but I'm quite liking the idea that I won't 'complete' BotW until I've found all 120 of the shrines.

Its a game that excels in player stories isn't it? On last weeks Beastcast, Vinny was moaning about being stuck on a ledge because of the weather when he was climbing a mountain. Of course, he could have chosen something else to do instead but I actually think that even a bit of the gameplay that he found frustrating created a cool little story when he spoke about what had happened.

There's still plenty to do after that :)

I've lost the Two sledgehammers already. What's the reward? I got trolled so hard with the second rock climbing rupee challenge. After 5 attempts too. Funny game.

I read in the guide that it has to be 11 hits exactly with a one-handed weapon and aimed right down the centre. I managed it after a couple of retries. Good luck! It's frustrating as hell! :hat:

I've only done the first Divine Beast so maybe my view will change when I do more, but I thought it was a real highlight of the game. It's a totally original concept, and really tightly designed.

not the shrines, they are awesome!

I mean the divine beasts

I think a really long dungeon such as from previous Zelda games would be at odds with the rest of the game, the shrines are the star attraction and the diving beasts seem to be there just to say it has dungeons to appease people who equate Zelda games with them.

I personally welcome this move, I have given up so many times on Zelda games with Dungeons that by the time I come back to them I've forgotten what I've done and the circle continues - oddly this is more the 3D games, I would welcome a more traditional dungeon based Zelda in 2d form but wouldnt want the 3d games to go back that way!

Gannon got lucky, of the things that would stop me smashing his face in I hadn't factored in my daughter nicking the switch :hmm:

11 got the distance for me but my aim was literally the worst.  Somehow I managed to bounce it in off the last pillar on the left!

I welcome it also but I suppose I can understand the nostalgic feeling that a true dungeon may bring so could be missed.  There's nothing from previous Zelda games though from within the dungeons, perhaps other than the bosses and select enemies, that really stand out to me in the same way as some of the exploration and story points do as part of my memories.

What I do really like about... well, the one divine beast I've done so far (I'm so slow, generally so tired after work), is that the 'dungeon' itself wasn't all there was to it.  It was the whole lead up, getting access, and then the inside.. it was all part of the package!

I've done two divine beasts and the lead up, dungeons and bosses have been great... very Skyward Swordy.

Day of firsts for me today in Zelda.

First time I've taken on and killed a Guardian  (thanks to Spainkiller's guide) - a stationery one but then took down a walking one too.

First time I've encountered a bear which then quickly became first time I rode a bear.

First time I've seen a dragon - big yellow bastard flew by while I was in a river minding my own business.
