Oh yes, and add me to the people who did our purple friend on Mount Lanaryu yesterday. Just lovely.

Ooh. Give me a spoiled vague clue as to where that mission might be given on the map.

One of the stables in Hyrule Field. More precisely

The stable in the south west corner

My latest distraction for getting nowhere fast in this game is shield surfing. To paraphrase (the original) Point Break, "shield surfing's the source man... swear to god"

Anybody found the perfect 50 year storm hill for surfing yet? I'm searching 8-)

The white horse you get sent on a sidequest for is the GOAT.

And do go back to the person who clues you in on the quest, too.

Tip:

You'll need plenty of stamina - I did it with potions to replenish, but you have to be quick to avoid being kicked off. Using food to get extra (yellow) stamina in advance might have been better. I think two full circles might be enough, but don't quote me on that!

And mine's called 'Sully'. From Uncharted - a steadfast, white-haired companion. With a penchant for cigars and the ladies... Hmmm. maybe I should have named him 'Clinton'.

Paging in @Jonny5 to this one, as it concerns him.

Go find the guys who teach you to Shield Surf in the first place. Northwest of Lanyru Tower, North of Sheh Rata Shrine, Southeast of Woodland Stable. You'll be told where to go for this "legendary shield surfer", I would assume that this is where the best run would be found. Sadly, the shields they sell would appear to be one time only deals, I think they're just there to point you in a couple of other directions.

90 hours in, STILL FINDING NEW SHIT TO DO!

Yeah I saw those guys a while back but they didn't say anything like that at the time. And I definitely didn't buy any of their shields (100 rupees a pop from memory)

Re taming the giant horse. I burned straight through two and a half full circles, quickly scarfed a meal giving me back one and a half, and tamed him almost immediately. So you probably need to be maxed out at three circles or thereabouts. But you can easily do it with top-ups.

And oh my God is it worth it! I just keep stopping and panning the camera around tiny Link on his giant horse.

Totally forgot about necking food! Think I know what I'm doing this morning. ;)

If I don't get distracted (I will).

The hill near the legendary surfer is definitely the best one so far, feels like a proper snowboarding game.

Thats something to do with having the game open for too long I believe.  Close it and restart and it'll sort it out.

yeah, I've only seen the title screen once since the game came out so it's probably worth a reboot

The switch itself seems to wilfully resist being turned off.

I took down my first big, moving guardians yesterday, but I can't do the shield parrying properly yet (it did work on the small ones in the shrines, but my timing seems off with the big ones). A swift ancient arrow to the eye does wonders though. Spent most of last night fucking around with Bokoblins while wearing a mask to blend in while unlocking new parts of the map. I'm a bit unsure what to do next; keep exploring and leveling up through completing shrines or maybe take a break from messing about and do a stretch of the story (it seems the game wants me to head to Goron City).

When you're playing it handheld, it beeps. It also rumbles a bit.

Been playing this for a week now after impulse buying a Switch to play it. So glad I did! Had lost all faith in Nintendo after Skyward Sword and its poor design and dated gameplay, so never bothered with the Wii-U. Got burned too many times with the new Zelda being touted as better than Ocarina too. All is now forgiven! This is definitely up there!

God knows how many hrs I've put in to it already but don't seem to have even brushed the surface of what it's got to offer having read through this thread. Mainly just been exploring around, unlocked 3 areas of the map, got a beast horse, collected 60 Korok seeds, done a handful of shrines and side quests. Enjoyed every minute of it! Finally arrived at Kakariko Village where I'm now stuck trying to find the kid you play hide and seek with. It's driving me up the wall!

Not much I can say that's bad about this game really, pop up is a bit annoying, especially when you can't see some interesting/important stuff until you're really close to it and it magically appears out of nowhere and I have struggled with the pacing a bit. Still not sure what I'm actually "supposed" to be doing or where I'm meant to go now to advance things. Spoke to Impa and once I've actually found this little shit it seems I need to go and find some memories???

Was playing some GTA Online last night, while aiming my gun I instinctively tried to adjust my aim using the controller's motion control and was briefly confused as to why it wasn't working, and disappointed.

Also when I joined the session it spawned me midway up a mountain and I died several times from falling down it, oh how I longed for my glider. :(

Hahaha. Tell me about it! The Switch has ruined me. Played that much Zelda I keep pressing circle, so selecting back on PS4 games now. First time it happened I was genuinely stuck on the PS4 home screen for a minute or so before I realised what was going on! Hahaha. :)

Also this, bought a weapon in GTA instead of going back off it because of the Switch controller set-up.

Little tip:  If anyone is trying to get an item that requires 13 hearts you can trade in your stamina to get the hearts and reclaim after you get the item.   I mean you only need 13 hearts to get the item not to use it.

I didn't do that to get it but how do you trade in stamina for hearts?

Can you buy weapons anywhere in this game? I've just destroyed every single weapon i owned during one of the tests of strength :(

Weapons behind villager's houses, or lying around stables regenerate - so that's a bunch of bows, hammers, and the like. Plus monsters weapons when they regenerate - so if you can find a decent location, you can bomb the buggers into submission from a position of safety. Or sneak up and steal their weapons from the racks.

Otherwise:

There's always a silver longsword lying behind the shrine in Zora town. I

think there's a stone smasher in Goron town. The house you can buy always has a hammer lying in front of it.
